First time at Kanpai of Tokyo tonight and I was seriously impressed. The food was really good — rich, flavorful and done right from the first bite to the last. And the portions? Massive. You get a TON of food, especially for the price. No one’s leaving hungry here.
Great spot for comfort food with real flavor, and a nice change from the usual dinner rotation. If you’re in Spartanburg and craving something good, this place absolutely delivers. I’ll be back.

I went for my birthday with my family and had a blast. We did the habachi grill and Jerome was hilarious. Our food was delicious and the service was great. Our waitress was super attentive, checking in with refills during the meal. I had a reservation and was quickly seated. They accommodated my large party well. I will definitely be back

The style of food and entertainment offered for dinner gets 4 stars. Being the only place of its kind in the area gives it the upper edge for being a fresh made, unique place to eat. However, I feel the lack of authentic flavor leaves me rating it a little lower than a 5.
We visited later in the evening, and we’re sat quickly. Our meal, of course, was made fresh and flavorful as they cooked it right in front of us. The soup did have more of a chicken noodles taste than the ginger or celery taste I was expecting. I like that they offer you plenty of sauces at the table with a good variety.

Our server was very very rude. We ordered drinks which took 30 mins for us to get and when we did get them they was completely wrong !! Then we ordered food after waiting another 25/30 mins. That never came out. Our salads came out and those was also wrong. Who puts ginger on a salad ?!? And as we sat there almost 2 hours all our server did was walk right past us. Roll her eyes at us and ignore us !! We won’t be back. After sitting there for about and hour someone came in sat down and immediately got their food !! I mean that was just outrageous!!

Pretty basic kinda crowded honestly especially on a weekend…the food was pretty good but they give you entirely too much! They could ease up on the serving sizes I had enough on my plate for 3 adults…but other than that it was an ok experience.

This was our first time coming here to Kanpai of Tokyo. I have always loved watching my food being cooked in front of us. We went on a date here but will definitely be returning. Its a nice, very friendly and clean restaurant. You get plenty of food for your money and they cook it how you want it. They do the usual egg toss tricks and all. I recommend you giving them a chance to cook for you! The steak and scallops were so good and the food overall was definitely worth it. Two very small complaints and nothing big the miso soup was very salty and unique having big noodles in it, kinda reminded me of chicken noodle soup. And the fire, the fire was huge and cinched a few of my eye brow hairs. So maybe little less for next time would be great.

Food tasted great and we were given generous portions. On the downside, service was slow today on our Sunday lunch visit. Our sushi and egg roll appetizer came out after chef was cooking our main entree. Restaurant dining room and bathrooms were not as clean as I expected. I will give them another try but not for a special family celebration like we had today.

We were craving sushi and stopped here on a whim. Sushi was made fresh to order and came out promptly. Taste was delicious and we loved it. Staff was kind and made sure our drinks were never empty. Atmosphere kinda dark and was pretty warm inside understandable since it is also a hibachi place.
Will definitely come back for more sushi.

Food was pretty unidimensional, just all tasted like soy sauce except the soup which actually wasn’t bad. Our chef really did the bare minimum for the little “show”. Our group had asked a server to take the cake and candles we provided and bring it out as a surprise for a group member’s birthday. They brought the cake back out in its plastic box and bag.
