I was just at the hotel this past week and ate here 3 nights. I had different things every night and absolutely loved every meal. Staff food and atmosphere was perfect. I would highly recommend the wagu surf and turf and the sweet potato waffle fried with the hot honey. The cheese cake was great also.

I’ve eaten here a couple times and I thought the food was pretty good. Last night I tried a burger with lobster on it and it was so delicious!! My husband had the perch and he really liked it. The Parmesan fries were also delicious. Definitely worth a try!

Went before a comedy show so wanted decent food without being as upscale as Copper Rock. Nice atmosphere here. They had a live musician which was a nice touch. They did have a limited menu for show night. We started off with the fried green bean appetizer which were nice and crispy served with 2 different ranch dipping sauces. Absolutely loved them and a nice big portion. I enjoyed the filet, definitely a petite cut same for the ribeye my husband enjoyed. Not super high quality but decent. The macaroni and cheese was really good. A thinner style white cheddar sauce on cavatappi pasta with big chunks of bacon. Really enjoyed it. Margarita used bottled sweet mix. Bloody mary was good tasted like Zing Zang with a nice little kick. Would definitely go back and give them another shot. Service was really good as well.

We so wanted to love this place as it is a beautiful restaurant. Unfortunately the Cesar salad my wife ordered was mayo and lemon juice with sharp green olives. Not a Cesar. My prime rib sandwich was big and beautiful but because of the very heavy handed rosemary it tasted like eating a Christmas tree.

My husband and I celebrate Valentine’s Day and my Birthday at the same time every year because they are within one week of each other. We always enjoy Kankakee Grill in South Bend so we decided to come here this year. Brittany, was our server and she was amazing. She was also bartending and we never felt ignored or had to wait for anything. We both felt like she spoiled us rotten. We ordered the Blue Corn Bread, Pretzel Bites, Fried Green Beans, Crab Cakes, Romaine Salad, with two Grilled Chicken Breast. I ordered the Filet Dinner also. Everything was absolutely perfect. After eating as much of the appetizers and Filet as we could I ordered the Rum Raisin Gelato, it was also perfect. Brittany then brought me a Birthday chocolate Mousse type dessert with Raspberry drizzle which intensified the flavor of the chocolate. We highly recommend Kankakee and Brittany and we will be back again soon…

Kankakee Grille is one of the few places doing it all right in South Bend/Michiana.
They have a big menu with lots of options so all your picky friends and family members can find something they like.
Fried fish (Bluegill Platter) was good.
Surf/Turf was good – lots of places overcook the lobster, not here.
Meatloaf – It’s more of a giant egg-shaped meatball; but it’s delicious and a generous portion.
Lobster Roll – one of the few places you can get a lobster roll around here and they are quite generous with the lobster and the roll is authentic. I have a hard time not ordering this every time I go even though I want to try more items.
Desert – We’ve had the carrot cake and gelato, but the gelato is excellent here. We get it everytime now and the flavors rotate.
We always have excellent service.
Bonus points for the live music. They bring in mostly solo acts, and several from the Chicago area that are quite talented. They find the perfect balance of live music for a restaurant; not too loud and talented people.
Don’t sleep on this one – easily a top 10 service/food experience in Michiana.

Spacious restaurant with full bar in New Buffalo and South Bend. Filet Mignon was tasty with quality meat, but small portion for $32.00. Nachos were amazing and filling. Not a fan of the prime rib sandwich. Drink prices are a bit high, but prefer to get drinks there rather than in the casino. Always our go-to when in the area or New Buffalo! Enjoy the live music in New Buffalo, not sure if they have it here. Fun place with a great staff!

Went here for Super Bowl 2026 it was ok we had the half slab each. The Ribs were good , coleslaw was ok, baked beans were just cooked beans I would serve at home not really “Baked Beans Taste” but the appetizers which was “Cast Iron Cornbread with honey drizzle topped with jalapeño peppers was a big no for us, it was like cornbread dressing, soft and moist(like bread pudding texture)did not have any form of baked cornbread ,we had to switch it out (house salad) because it was not baked cornbread, the server was accommodating but she said well everything has a slight twist…. Oh, ok, but no thanks, but the service was good. Would I go again yes I would go to try something else, the menu was welcoming sorry I didn’t take any pics.

Kankakee Grille in South Bend proved to be a delightful dining option during our visit to the casino, offering a satisfying mix of quality food, reasonable pricing, and an inviting ambiance. The restaurant features a robust menu with something for everyone, and the atmosphere was elevated by the soft sounds of live music playing nearby, creating a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
We started our meal with the crab cakes, which were a standout, served with a unique and flavorful corn-based sauce that added a creative twist to the dish. For my entrée, I went for the chicken fried steak dinner, complemented by a side of macaroni, and it delivered in both heartiness and taste. My dining companion opted for a salad and was impressed by its freshness and vibrant flavors, which can sometimes be overlooked in simpler dishes but were done exceptionally well here.
Although the overall experience was positive, the pace of service was noticeably slow, with our waitress only appearing briefly to deliver dishes. Since we were dining on a Sunday evening, it’s possible this was due to staffing or timing, but it didn’t detract too much from the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Kankakee Grille is a great spot to pair with the other amenities at the casino, and despite the lag in service, the food and atmosphere more than made up for it. We’d definitely consider returning for another meal, perhaps to explore more of their intriguing menu offerings!
