Kanela Breakfast Place is in a prime location in Chicago, and I must say it is one of the best breakfast spots I have tried in the city. The food was fresh, tasty, and well presented. The service was amazing very friendly and fast. For the quality of food and service, the price was very reasonable. I would give it a solid 10/10. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great breakfast in Chicago.

Definitely a restaurant i would never go back to. First, the French Toast was not dipped. It looked more like grilled bread than French Toast. Second, if you’re not baking your omelets, you don’t deserve to be in the breakfast business. Eggs were rubbery as they usually are when you cook them on a flat top. The ingredients were in the omelet, but not incorporated….. and the feta in the omelet? Feta should be crumbled not grated and dry. I asked for a side of sausage links and got chopped sausage in my omelet. Finally, one piece of toast? Really? For a $25 omelet order you offer 1 piece of bread? You either don’t care about your business or you don’t know your business. Either way, you won’t be around long.

It would not be my first choice of breakfast, their drip coffee is ok, my mom ordered tea, it was bag tea, not lose leaf tea. We made a mistake by ordering sunny side up and pork sausages, it was good, but I can cook it myself. In general this place seems a little expensive. The salad on the side was literally just green leaves with dressing: no tomatoes, cucumbers, no bacon or egg.

I Googled a place close to the hotel and Kanelas came up. It was my first time here but definitely not my last. The food was great, the service was great, as Nicholas did a great job of going through some favorites, and the overall experience was great.

Went here for brunch on a Sunday while visiting Chicago. There was no wait time. The waitress was very nonchalant. The glassware seemed rather used and distressed. The food was just OK. I don’t think I’ll be visiting this place again if in Chicago.

Will G. was great! Friendly, welcoming, and informative. We ordered the California Benedict and 3 egg dish for our table. Spicy and delicious. I recommend the California Benedict with bacon, although the original option is equally delicious. My wife loved her plate with eggs Sunny side up. Coffee and cappuccino is tasty. Our friend wanted something sweet so we ordered the Kanela Roll. Sooooo delicious with its cream cheese frosting, cinnamon flavor.
If you’re in the downtown Chicago area, make the stop for breakfast here. Your tastebuds will thank you.

Breakfast here is absolutely delightful! The menu offers a wide variety of choices, each more tempting than the last, and the avocado toast is a true standout—creamy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Our dishes arrived at the table quickly, which was great, but the server seemed a bit hurried, making it feel like we had to wrap up soon after finishing our plates rather than leisurely enjoying our coffee. Despite that, the food itself was fantastic and definitely worth a visit. The combination of fresh ingredients, generous portions, and overall quality makes it a top spot for a satisfying morning meal. With just a touch more relaxed service, it would be the perfect place to savor breakfast at your own pace.

This place is clean and organized well.
Our server was very nice and welcoming.
We ordered a burrito and a skillet.
I ordered a latte with oak milk but it was very bland, I didn’t like it. The cappuccino was regular milk tastes very good though.
The burrito was packed with eggs. Very flavorful.

This place is very tiny and they do not manage the waiting patrons well. There is no list to put your name on. You are expected to work out a first come, first serve line with the random strangers also waiting outside and then only send in 6 people at a time. No one from the staff helps organize this. Just left to duke it out with folks you hope are nice and reasonable.

The food was okay. It definitely wasn’t worth the wait. The service from the waitress was very slow. It took so long to get a menu that we just looked it up online to be ready to order whenever the waitress showed up. The food did come super quick though once we were able to order.

I would not recommend this spot. It’s not terrible, but with so much choice in the city, I would go elsewhere.
