Unique concept for a way to enjoy all you can eat Japanese style food. I reviewed menu before visit and was familiar with the food they offered. My wife and I have been to Japan several times and knew almost all the dishes, so no disappointment or surprises that way. Don’t order something if you don’t know what it is, you may be disappointed, no fault of the restaurant. Food was freshly made to order and the quality seemed good. Was it worth the money? If you know what you are eating and have starters first, main meal after that, you will get to enjoy a true value. I never stuff myself with rice, noodles, or salad first; rather get some sushi or rolls. Restaurant was just getting busy when we arrived, but managed to get seated right away. If you haven’t been here before, let staff know, they will make sure you understand the ordering process. If you have any questions, just ask. More enjoyable for you and it makes their job easier too. We ended up enjoying the evening and the meal, would really like to come back some time soon.

Cool place where you can order off a menu, or order all you can eat. But it is NOT a buffet. You order from a menu and they bring it to you, as many times as you want for one price. Lunch is around $20 and dinner $30. I tried many appetizers and the shrimp hibachi. Appetizers were all very good. The shrimp hibachi was good too, but make sure you ask for Yum Yum sauce to jazz up the fried rice. I did not try any sushi this time around, but it all looked excellent.
They do charge $5 a plate if you do not eat it all, so keep that in mind when ordering. Sushi comes with 8 pieces. App sizes varied, but the pictures in the menu were accurate. The hibachi portion was not huge, which is a good thing in this instance.

What a great dinner experience. It was our first time, and our waitress, Jessica, made us feel right at home. The best part was the service—it’s so efficient! Food just flows to the table. Dishes are brought out the second they’re prepared, so everything is incredibly fresh. It’s an impressive system that leads to a wonderful, fast-paced meal. Beautiful presentation on every dish. Five stars, easily.

As someone who has been to several AYCE sushi restaurants, I would say Kanpai is decent, but not the best I have been to. That said, the experience itself is still worth it. I really liked the atmosphere and decorations, which made the dining experience more enjoyable.
I actually enjoyed their appetizers more than their sushi options. The marinated beef short ribs were great. The service was also excellent. Everything came out quickly, and our server was very attentive, always checking in to see if we needed anything as she passed by.

The appetizers that I had were delicious. The hibachi steak I ordered was a tad over cooked. I ordered the all you can eat. The portions were good. The sushi was fresh. Our food came pretty quickly which I was surprised about. You do have to pay extra to take your leftovers home so I ended up wasting food. To me that’s like throwing away money but I get why they have that rule.

I took my daughter there for lunch, walked in was greeted and seated right away without any wait time. Here’s my honest take: its a great place for the price if you already know what kind of sushi and stuff you like. I feel like they have a great selection to choose from.
But if your not sure what you like yet and are new to sushi and want to try a big selection than probably not the place for you. Me and my daughter like trying new foods and we try to pick somewhere new for special occasions. Im glad we went, it was overall worth the money at the lunch price and a good experience. But we stuck to the things we knew we would like and be able to finish, because if you dont finish your food you will get charged $5 per plate, and we really did not want to pay extra just to try new things and find out we didnt like it.
Overall I am glad we ate there for the experience but we will probably learn more of our likes and dislikes before coming here again.
I truly understand the no waste policy so I am not in disagreement with it, but we are still learning what we like so not really able to try new things here and risk an extra $5 per plate.

HANDS DOWN BEST SUSHI IN THE AREA! Servers and staff are friendly, helpful, really quick and a joy to interact with. The restaurant is decorated beautifully. The food. The food is the star of the show. The variety is awesome. The presentation is always incredible. I have now tried everything on the menu and found nothing that wasn’t absolutely delicious! Can not recommend this place highly enough! Wish I could give 10 stars!

Kanpai was awesome to say the least! My partner and I often find ourselves dining at AYCE sushi places all over the country as we travel frequently. We were more than happy with our choice to dine at Kenpai. The interior of the restaurant is vibrant and fun, lots of fun lights and decor. We really enjoyed the artificial cherry blossom trees and music at a reasonable level. For a very reasonable price the menu is relatively large with many options for the whole family starting from appetizers, soups, salads, hibachi, noodles, rolls, nigiri, hand rolls, sashimi and more! The appetizers were tasty and our sushi was fresh and delicious! We highly recommend anything on the menu, especially the nigiri! The service was prompt and friendly, and everything came out relatively quickly even though it was a busy Saturday night. We will absolutely be coming back here when we make it back to town!

Wish I knew Japanese to use an adjective. I guess thank you Jesus will do! Ever since I’ve been to Sushi Bomb near Pittsburgh I wanted a restaurant in Youngstown. We’ll, we got it. The service is excellent, food tastes great and fresh. The atmosphere is all you can eat inducing. This is my favorite restaurant in town now.
