Reviews
We got the green beans, shrimp rolls, garlic prawns, pork leg, adobo chicken, and most of the ube desserts. We enjoyed the green beans and adobo chicken. The flavors were unique on both dishes. The other dishes were fine, but nothing really stood out.
The ube charros were amazing, definitely get those.
The service was ok, we had to keep asking for everything: silverware, plates, napkins, water.
A Heartwarming Filipino Dining Experience at Kamayan Atlanta
Kamayan Atlanta is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience that truly touches the heart.
Tita Mia has been absolutely amazing and incredibly hospitable, making sure every guest feels welcomed, comfortable, and well taken care of from the moment you walk in. Her warmth alone already sets the tone for a memorable visit.
We ordered several dishes, and each one deserves special recognition—especially for those who may not be familiar with Filipino cuisine:
• Crispy Pata (Superb!) – This is a deep-fried pork leg that’s crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. It’s rich, savory, and usually dipped in a tangy soy-vinegar sauce. Perfect for sharing and absolutely indulgent.
• Dinuguan with Gata (Must-Try!) – This is a traditional Filipino stew made with pork simmered in a savory, tangy sauce traditionally made with pork blood, enhanced here with coconut milk (gata), which makes it extra creamy and comforting. If you enjoy bold, soulful flavors similar to hearty stews, this dish is a must. Don’t let the ingredients scare you—it’s incredibly flavorful and comforting.
• Crispy Palabok – Palabok is a Filipino noodle dish made with rice noodles and a savory garlic-shrimp sauce, topped with shrimp, egg, and chives. This version had a crispy twist. While I personally prefer the classic palabok, this was still enjoyable and well-prepared.
• Shrimp Lumpia – Filipino spring rolls filled with shrimp, fried to a golden crisp. Light, crunchy, and delicious, especially dipped in sweet chili sauce.
The atmosphere deserves special mention—it was beautifully Christmas-themed and instantly made me feel like I was back home in the Philippines on Christmas Eve. As someone who is far away from home, that feeling meant everything. The warmth, the décor, the food, and the hospitality all came together to create an emotional and memorable experience that truly touched my heart.
Lastly, a huge thank you to Tita Mia and the amazing waitress who was attentive, kind, and genuinely caring—something that’s sadly rare these days. The service was thoughtful and never lackluster, making the experience even more special.
If you’re looking to explore authentic Filipino food or simply want a place that feels like home, Kamayan Atlanta is a gem. Highly recommended! ❤️
– Wok Fried Green Beans: 5/5 (crispy and flavorful)
– Pork Lumpia: 5/5 (yum)
– Chickarrones: 4/5 (tasty snack, though some were burnt)
– Sizzling Sisig: 4.5/5 (great flavor, just greasy)
– Crispy Palabok: 3/5 (didn’t feel like enough sauce was provided and expected more flavor in the sauce)
The atmosphere of the restaurant was great however! Definitely reserve or come a bit before dinner time. We went at 4:30 and it was already packed.
Small issue was I ordered a halo-halo to go for my daughter. While she was drinking it she found a toothpick with a little flag in the drink. Luckily she didn’t suck it up with the straw. Also we tossed it at that point bc the ink from the flag (printed paper) was running into the drink. Took a star off bc that was pretty dangerous.
We ordered chicken skewer, beef karekare, and shrimp lumpia are all very good. The fish was ok.
Plenty of parking. Nice ambience.
They do get quite busy on a friday night and we were suggested to leave bc of upcoming reservation after seated for 1hr30min so may not be ideal for ppl who needs more time.
