Asian art & tchotchkes adorn this unfussy Chinese spot serving staples like chow mein.

DHS does not have many culinary standouts! But I have to say wow, this place is one of the best I have had in multiple states including DCs China town!
This place is somewhat hiding, dark and not lit well, but well worth the trip! One dish that is absolutely amazing and I have never had before was the coconut shrimp! It’s not your typical dry tempura type, not at all! You must try,
The Beef Lo Mein, fried rice, all excellent dishes. I sampled several other dishes all excellent! Cheese or “crab Rangoon” is good not great. I have been 4 times and they have been consistently great each time.
They have several specials $18 for fried rice choice of beef lomein, and other dishes an egg roll, 2 cheese Rangoon, I don’t have all the details but be sure to check out the specials they are pretty cheap.
My meal of fried rice, beef Lo Mein, egg roll, crab Rangoon, coconut shrimp was $41 total amazing!!!

Service was welcoming and prompt.
But overall cleanness and odor of the facility was not fresh.
Mother enjoyed the seafood soup, which was quite a big bowl.
Mangolian beef was tasteless. Dumblings were good.

I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times, and each visit has been a consistently enjoyable experience. It’s a unique Chinese dining spot that offers something a little different from your typical places. The staff here remembers what we ordered everytime.
The food here is genuinely authentic Chinese cuisine, with rich flavors and traditional dishes that are hard to find elsewhere. Every meal feels freshly prepared and thoughtfully cooked, and the menu offers a great variety without being overwhelming. Portion sizes are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and taste you get.
Whether you’re coming with family, friends, or just looking for a satisfying meal, this place delivers every time. It’s definitely one of those hidden gems that you appreciate more with each visit.

We ordered three dishes—pork, beef, and vegetables—but each dish was covered with the same greasy sauce. It tasted terrible, and we could barely swallow it. When we paid the bill, the Chinese Ms. added a tip to the check without my permission, and I disagreed with what she did. She then told us never to come to this restaurant again. I completely agree with her conclusion—we will never go back. In a Chinese restaurant, I have never encountered such bad food and service before. Don’t go there! It’s a nightmare.

This is my Hubby’s Favorite place to eat in the desert. We drive to Desert Hot springs just to eat here. The staff are always so friendly and work hard to get your food out fast. The food is always delicious, we’re so glad your back open!

Food is great with large portion. We like wonton soup, sesame chicken, fried rice and tofu.
Each dish is around$ 10-12, very affordable.
The place is full of people and only down side is not enough manpower, you need to wait a bit long for your meal.
Will definitely visit again if come to Desert Hot Spring.

Nice size portions for a fair price. Super friendly service. Food is ok. If you are a neat freak or not a fan of clutter, I would recommend sending someone else to pick up your order.

I’ve been going to Kam Lun since I was a little girl with my parents. I have now been coming at least once every two weeks with my own family. We order the same thing every time because we absolutely loved it. My family and I just came in and found out it’s under new ownership. The dinner special included hot tea kettle with fried shrimp, wonton and egg roll, rice with entree that could feed three people. We ordered beef and broccoli dinner special, the beef was chewy the portion was extremely small, I don’t know if maybe Sue gave more because she loves her customers but this portion seemed like a small order, on the menu it says it can feed two but honestly it looks like it’s for one person. The fried rice we got always came in a large red container with a cap. We got two small bowls of rice. We also ordered the crispy chicken and again portion was small, honestly it still tasted good but portion size was not it. No more fancy traditional tea kettles, now it’s a metal one which changes the flavor of the tea I think, and it’s not included in the special. They forgot our appetizers for our dinner special.
It’s so stuffy and humid, no ac, just a fan blowing hot air.
Unfortunately since Sue is gone, the recipes are different and we will no longer return. Which is sad because Kam Lun was such a childhood memory that I just kept going so that my children would also enjoy. We most definitely will miss her.
There should be a sign that it’s under new management. Also, This restaurants name should definitely change!

A hole in the wall Chinese restaurant in the desert that looks like it’s been a local favorite for years. Stopped by during a recent trip to a hot springs hotel and tried their dinner specials. We tried the Beef chow mein and Kung pao chicken. The Kung pao tasted a little strange, but the chow mein was pretty amazing. It isn’t much to look at and after tasting the Kung pao, I really didn’t expect it but it was pretty good. The appetizers were also all pretty good, especially the shrimp. As for the price, it was only $9.50 pp for more food than two people can eat. Service was hot and miss. They were really busy for a Sunday evening and sounded like they had a lot of phone orders. Once we finally placed our order, service was pretty decent but language is a barrier here for some of the employees. If not for the weird Kung pao, I would have given them at least 4 stars but it was just too weird to get past. Parking lot was a bit sketchy too.
