My cousins took me out for my 50th birthday. Kaluz sits on the intracoastal on commercial blvd. You get beautiful views of the water. Valet is $5.00, there’s a few parking spots in front of the restaurant but expect to valet when it’s busy.
The food was amazing, I had a New York strip, it was cooked perfectly and came with a huge baked potato.
Elaine, our server for the evening, was great! She had a wonderful personality and kept our evening moving smoothly.

Overall, a good restaurant with excellent service and a very well-prepared cocktails. My husband’s ribs were a little dry, and the crab salad was so-so; the presentation could have been more refined. The bread pudding was delicious.

Great night out! Waited at the bar for our table to be ready. Had dinner outside nice view of boats docking up and the water. I tried tuna tartar for the first time and I was so happy that I ordered it here because it was delicious. Salmon was light and juicy. Definitely recommend if you still haven’t had dinner with them yet.

I visited this restaurant yesterday to celebrate my birthday after discovering it online and feeling excited by the views, atmosphere, food, and overall upscale presentation. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet those expectations. After being seated, a pleasant staff member initially came by, complimented my dress, and made us feel welcomed. I assumed she would be our server however she left and our assigned server did not return to take our order for approximately 30 minutes. While he did briefly stop by to explain the specials, there was a significant delay before he came back to actually take our order. When my lemonade arrived, it was noticeably watered down and lacked flavor. Our appetizers then took an additional 30–40 minutes to arrive. At that point, I was feeling overwhelmed and disappointed especially given that this was my 32nd birthday. Because of this I decided to have our main courses packaged to go rather than continue dining in. Sadly even after eating at home, the main dish was dry while the appetizers were the only part of the meal that met expectations. Overall, the service felt inattentive and our server did not appear very engaged. I genuinely wish the staff member who initially greeted us had been our server as the experience may have been different. For a birthday celebration, this visit was ultimately disappointing and fell short of what I expected.

We visited Kaluz in Coral Ridge for a dual celebration—Valentine’s Day and my daughter’s birthday. While the restaurant has a fascinating pedigree (originating from the “Kansas” and “Luz” brands in Argentina), the experience was a bit of a mixed bag.

The Food: Solid, but “Safe”

The kitchen clearly knows how to handle high volume. The presentation across the board was impressive, and the flavors were generally good:
• The Kaluz Chilean Seabass: a bit fishy and its texture lacked flavor.
• Cedar Plank Salmon & Duck Confit: Both were well-executed with nice aromatic finishes.
• Hatfield Farm Pork Chops: Hearty and reliable.
While the meal was enjoyable, it felt more like a polished “corporate” dining experience rather than something truly unique or artisanal.
The Atmosphere: A Logistics Challenge
This is where the experience faltered. With a seating capacity of 295, the interior feels more like a crowded hall than an upscale eatery.
• Noise Level: It was incredibly loud inside, making conversation difficult—not exactly the ideal “celebration” vibe for a birthday or a romantic holiday.
• Lighting: The interior is remarkably dark. While they’re going for “moody,” it bordered on impractical.
The Saving Grace: The Waterfront
The only reason to choose Kaluz over other high-end steakhouses in Fort Lauderdale is the location. The outdoor setting is magnificent. Watching boaters anchor and step right off the Intracoastal for dinner provides a level of charm the interior lacks entirely.
Final Verdict
If you can snag a table outside to watch the boats, Kaluz is worth it. However, if you are seated inside, be prepared for a noisy, dark, and somewhat chaotic environment. For the price point, I expected a bit more intimacy for a special occasion.

Kaluz Restaurant — decent, but nothing special.
The ambiance is nice and the food is solid, but nothing truly stands out. Dishes are well-presented and the flavors are fine, just not memorable.
The main point — the service. Friendly, but a bit slow and not as attentive as you’d expect at this level. A firm 4/5.

Bottom line: good if you’re in the area, but not worth a special trip.

Great ambiance, service and food! We dined at the bar outside. This was our 2nd time here and we enjoyed it again; ordered a cucumber martini, smoked salmon dip, guacamole & chips, and Cesar plan salmon w/rice & mashed potatoes and had the espresso affogato for dessert

While visiting the WONDERFUL Wellington animal conservation center (a must visit for kids and adults), we looked for a place to eat that was close. The menu at Kaluz stood out. We arrived just as they opened at 1130am. Surprisingly, the restaurant was already fully staffed. We took a seat outside as it was a beautiful day. Our waitress Tara came to greet us. We explained this was our first time here and any recommendations would be welcomed. Immediately she gave us the run down of the restaurant. She let us know everything is made in-house from scratch, even the sauces. Also all cocktails were scratch made, no store bought mixers. My friend and I were open to suggestions as everything sounded so good. Tara asked if we wanted to put in the kids order and get that started right away while we decided. I appreciated this very much. My daughter also didn’t want to decide on one thing, so she got the chicken fingers and fries as well as the pasta with red sauce. We were able to pick out what cocktails we wanted first. I had the spicy watermelon margarita and my friend had the Key West Rickety. Both were amazing and were perfect for our pallets. Then we ordered the Brussel sprout appetizers and the octopus appetizer. It was very difficult to narrow it down to just two. I personally feel that Brussel spouts for an appetizer is kinda weird. They seem more like a side dish. The menu does state they are tossed in a garlic aioli. They tasted AMAZING! Next time I will ask for the aioli on the side to dip them in, as it was a very big portion and we had to take them home and I’m not sure how they will reheat. But 10 out of 10 for the Brussel spouts. I’ll get them every time.
The octopus….. I love octopus. But this, hands down, was the top 3 octopus dishes I’ve ever had. Tara explained how the spicy aioli with the pico really enhance the flavor. I was skeptical because good octopus shouldn’t need anything else right? So wrong. Eating the octopus, with the pico, and the sauce all as one bite did some dancing on our pallets. The sauce was so good I dipped a few fries in it as well. I could eat that sauce on everything! The octopus was on a bed of roasted potatoes. The potatoes were very good, especially in the sauce. But I didn’t feel that they added anything to the dish like the pico and sauce.
My daughter got her pasta and chicken fingers with fries. She was a very happy camper. We did try her food and it was really good! You could tell even the chicken tenders were made scratch. The batter was very tasty. My daughter said they were the best French fries she ever had. The pasta was corkscrew pasta, which the menu didn’t specify. So when it came out she didn’t want to try it, as she only likes spaghetti. But we tried the pasta and decided not to send it back because it was so good and we’ll eat it for a late night snack.
I ended up ordering what Tara said her favorite meal there was – NY strip steak (medium) with truffle butter, creamed spinach, with an addition of a crab cake. My friend ordered the salmon (rare) with the wild rice and asparagus. Most restaurants never cook the salmon the way she likes it done. But this was cooked perfectly. The rice was technically long grain rice with some wild rice. The asparagus was perfect. My steak was an absolute perfect medium. The butter did not have a strong truffle flavor and was more herby. We all would 100% order everything we ate again. Although it would be hard not to try new things, as everything there was impeccable. Everything from the ambiance, to the service, to the food was amazing. It was a great experience, something I feel restaurants lack nowadays. We will absolutely go back, recommend to everyone, and if I could rate it more than 5 stars I would!
