I went there with my ex-wife back when we were still together. I had the catfish. It was very very good and she had the chicken. She was very happy with her meal, which I have to admit. It was nice to see her. Happy once in a while. The french fries regarding the Sotos cold. The atmosphere is cool and the staff is very nice.

Stopped in for a family lunch with about 20 of us after a funeral. They got us seated right away even though we were about a hour early. Menu is enormous anyone should be able to find a choice to try. Enjoyed a nice appetizer combo. Bison burger was good and juicy French fry serving was a little light. Daughter enjoyed her patty melt as well. They also have a dessert selection if you like. Service was fast considering our large group. Lots of photos on the walls of the local historical sights. There is a lot of Luxembourg history in this small town. Two gas pumps outside if you need and a small grocery section inside as well. Good choice if your looking for some good Midwestern fare.

Had dinner here tonight (9/17/22). We were celebrating my son and my nieces birthdays. The food was great and our waitress was amazing. Kalmes is one of my favorite restaurants, and we live about an hour away. We’ll worth the hour drive. Prime rib was excellent tonight. Great salad bar. Really nice, simple atmosphere. We have had good food and good service every time we stop in. I believe our waitresses name was maybe Laura? I believe she was one of the owners? Sorry if I got that wrong.. Anyway she was awesome and made the night very enjoyable for us all. Thank you.

Great small town service and food! The ambiance and history of the building only adds to the experience. The fried chicken was some of the best I have ever had. The waitress was awesome! You could tell they were short staffed, as she was running around taking care of everyone, but through it all she never once complained or got short. She was great! I recommend you take the drive and experience this place for yourself.

We had Kalmes cater our 300 person wedding last weekend and I received raving reviews from all who attended. I originally booked them about a year and a half ago and since then inflation has made food prices soar. Despite that, Kalmes never came back to try and raise my rates or give me less than we agreed to. We left with tons of leftover food despite many of our guests making multiple trips to the buffet line, and the food was piping hot and delicious. They are so easy to work with and I will recommend them to anyone and everyone! The ham and fried chicken are the way to go!

Kalmes Restaurant has been our go to place for the best burger and a cold drink for years. Something’s going on and I hope they can turn it around. Recently the food prep has been increasingly inconsistent. At least one entree is undercooked or cold. Today’s side order of onion rings overdone and the interior temperature so cold guests were wearing jackets to be warm and our server indifferent at best.

We absolutely love this restaurant and recommend it to anyone looking for a family owned place to eat. The salad bar and Windy Whopper are our favorites, along with the chicken noodle soup. Don’t forget to grab a mug of 1919 Rootbeer from the tap while you’re there. The staff is friendly and the service is quick! Call ahead and make a reservation Friday-Sunday as they can be very busy.

Had the Sunday evening buffet. Excellent!! Homade cinnimon rolls were an unexpected treat. Others were having burgers that also looked great! Locally grown buffalo is available.
