Great experience in LIC! Went in on a quiet Wednesday night with my buddy and there were a few other patrons enjoying some nigiri! Good service and cool ambiance. Overall, tried sushi I never did before and was impressed with the experience! Below is a summary of what we had and honestly each one was better than the other for the $100 15 course meal:
Oyster with fish eggs, salmon sushi,, ahi Tuna , Hamachi yellowfin, toro with caviar, Sweet shrimp, Albacore tuna, Avocado uni , Scallop, Shima aji- striped jack, King salmon with seaweed, Eel roll with jalapeño pickle, Tamago, A5 wagyu uni, Toro handroll with yuzu sauce!!

Phenomenal spread and worth it! Don’t go there hungry because it won’t fill you up but enjoy the experience!

Loved this omakase! The flavor combinations were incredible. The price was great. I did the smaller of the 2 menu options so I could double up on a few of my favorite pieces at the end. Service was attentive. My water glass was always full. I had a reservation so I sat at the bar but I love that they have an option for walk-ins to enjoy the same menu but with table side service. Def recommend you give this place a try & kudos to the chef. I will be back!

Kaiyo’s a memorable and intimate experience. The server Sam, and the chef took such great care of us from beginning to end. There was anticipation. Actually, we did the 9-main tasting and left feeling full and dazzled with the design intricacy behind each serving. Would highly recommend to anybody whether you are trying omakase for the first time or looking for an eye-popping option to be delighted.

We were first to arrive and sat by the side of the chef’s table. Best view to watch how everything is composed! We chose the 15 course meal, and it was plenty and left us full. The mocha cake dessert was delicious as well. Took a lot of pictures, but I’ll leave some as it’s part of the surprise. Hence the meaning of “omakase”.

Great service! Sushi Omakase for the most part was excellent, except for the Toro which was oddly chewy, perhaps just a bad cut, but overall we had a memorable experience. Will definitely come again when back in NY.

Very fresh and delicious omakase. We tried the 18 course, it was worth it! The king salmon and the toro were some of our favorite bites (I also loved the giant mound of ginger on our plates!) Torched red snapper and eel were also divine! Service was friendly and attentive.

Only note was that a few could have used a touch more soy sauce or other sauce, would be helpful to provide on the side.

The area needed an Omakase restaurant and Kaiyo definitely delivered. Folks working there are super friendly, you get unlimited sake with the food and it’s just a lot of fun to follow and see the preparation for each course. We went with the 18 course option and enjoyed it a lot.

The sushi was great–bigger portions than other Omakase places I’ve been to in the city. The fish was beautifully prepared. The staff was also very attentive with drink refills (tea) and removing any used dishes. Bar seating available, with a few more 2-person tables in the back. $118 for the 18-course, which was definitely worth it.

My first time doing an omakase and this was truly an incredible experience! The ingredients were fresh. The chef put a ton of dedication and focus into preparing each dish and it was so cool to see it being made tableside. There was even a blowtorch. You could tell this place has such a passion for delivering customers with a comfortable dining experience (including by offering you hot tea when you sit down). Plus, I even got the chocolate coffee cake and can’t recommend it more for those with a sweet tooth.

You can tell from the outdoor decor that the restaurant will result in a wonderful experience. The sake is affordable and it goes down so smoothly you can’t even taste the alcohol. The experience itself is so unique. Not only do you get to watch your meals be made, but they tell you what you’re eating as they do. Perfect place to experiment with new food items in a comfortable environment.
