We were able to walk in at 5:30 on a Saturday with no issue. We thought that this would be a nice easy dinner. However, the appetizers took over an hour for a party of 5. We ordered the gyoza, mac and cheese, crispy tuna rice, lobster rangoons, and spring rolls. The only food that was warm were the spring rolls. Everything else was slightly warm.
The food tasted fine. I wouldn’t recommend the lobster mac and cheese. Not a lot of lobster and a really heavy citrus taste that didn’t mesh well with the cheeses they used.
The gyoza were fine and the crispy tuna rice was pretty good. Nothing was special though.
We then ordered some rolls and the sushi tasted good. Nothing to complain about there.

Overall would I go back or recommend this place to anyone else? No. It’s nothing special, food took way too long and was cold, and the service was poor.

Food was excellent. Atmosphere was cool and had a “lived in” feel but was still clean. Service was good – just didn’t get utensils until after the meal was served and had to request cutlery. This was a really good place. Not quite a 5 star for me but I’d definitely go back. Ramen was tops!

Went here tonight with a large party. Overall it was good service. It did take a while to get our food and drinks, we ordered almost everything on the menu. My favorite was the asparagus appetizer! It was really good! Ordered the New York strip steak it was lacking in flavor and tenderness. I will not be ordering it again. Added on a lobster tail and the lobster was cold when it go to the table. Tried the hot rock and that was a fun experience. Not a lot of meat and seems a bit overpriced for the amount of meat that you get. The sushi was mediocre. Ordered the oh my god roll and a few others and I liked the presentation of the oh my god roll because it came out on fire so that was a neat experience. Salmon was good, chicken teriyaki was good and my daughter ordered the tacos and said they were really good!!! The drinks were all amazing! The pomegranate margarita was my favorite! Had the cheese cake and it was ok. Really loved the atmosphere!

My party of eight arrived and were seated promptly, but unfortunately the service and food quality quickly declined. We ordered drinks that took approximately 30–45 minutes to arrive. When they did, they tasted like juice with little to no alcohol, and we were informed that beer was unavailable.
The biggest issue, however, was with the food. Three people in our party—including myself—ordered the $40 steak. Our meals took over an hour to arrive and were brought out well after the rest of our party had already finished eating.
All three steaks were ordered medium, yet they arrived extremely overcooked—dry, burnt, and very difficult to cut. Mine in particular resembled a burnt burger rather than a steak. This was extremely disappointing, especially given the price. To make matters worse, we were also told there was no steak sauce available.
Overall, this was a very frustrating and disappointing experience for my birthday, especially for what should have been a high-quality dining experience.

This is not the same Kai it once was. We decided to go after years away and we were excited to try it again. The hostess was polite and the young man filling our water was nice, unfortunately that’s where the good ended. What a disaster of a visit, we regret even trying to eat as much of the sushi that we ordered as we did.
First, it was not busy at all and it was still terribly slow service to get our order in to begin with. My wife ordered a side salad that she never got. Ordered the beef sashimi, it came out at the same time as the main course of sushi. The beef was cut way too thick, chewy, and looked like it had been hacked with a dull knife. The juice was bland, we both had one piece and made them take it back at the end.
Ordered the sex in the city, salmon salsa, and lobster monster. Made it through maybe half of each just hoping. The rice was like day old mushy rice. The avocado was brown. The cucumbers were mushy. The sauce under two of the rolls was completely wrong, it tasted like the sashimi sauce honestly. The server never checked on us again after the food was served to us to even mention the problems. We sat for 22 minutes waiting for anyone to come by.
Then asked for the manager who took another 9 minutes to show up. When she finally did, she didn’t care. She offered different food or dessert. I did not want anymore terrible food. Apologized and walked off.
Then I sat for another 12 minutes and had to go out of my way to get the servers attention to even get my check. I just wanted to leave and never come back at that point. They did put a discount on the check, luckily since we didn’t eat half our food. My wife saw both the server and manager just sitting and talking most of the time.
As other reviewers have mentioned funny enough, my wife said the exact same thing that she’s had better sushi from somewhere like Sam’s club.
Do not waste your time at Kai anymore, so many better places for sushi and service, do yourself the favor.

The drinks were on point (spicy Bloody Mary), the service was beyond expectations, the Sesame, Mozzarella, Asparagus Tempura is dangerously good
and the pan seared Green Goyza were incredible.
The sushi was the best best in Springfield, yes the best. I said it and I stand behind it.
My wife said the cheesecake was better than any she’d ever had in New York City.
Definitely worth the 110 mile drive. Thank you for a great meal and a great evening.

First time coming here but will be back. Noah our waiter was perfect knew exactly when to check on us. I believe the manager was also checking in service was outstanding our dinner was exceptional. As it was my wife’s birthday this hidden gem was the perfect end to our day. I highly recommend coming here

Food great. But the highlight was the staff super accommodating and friendly had a party of 6. We all wanted to share every thing and they brought it out on a bunch of trays for us. Chefs even made a little snake out of wasabi, presentation was awesome. 2 from our party had to leave so we walked them out came back for some drinks, they put the football game on up stairs for us and continued to check on us! Just overall very great service. Even tho we made them fire off 3 checks.
