Pros: Nicely decorated, prices are fair, nice staff
Cons: Can get crowded on Sundays so come early, food was just ok, more attention to details needed for a satisfactory customer experience
My friend and I visited here this summer. To be honest, I can’t remember much about the food. When that happens, it means it wasn’t anything that stood out about it. What I do remember is the macaroni being cold. Not cool but cold. My friend went to the owner to tell him about it. The owner stated that they had taken it out of the oven too fast. He proceeds to bring my friend out a hot serving. But what about me? Common sense would’ve told him that if his was cold, mine was too since it came out of the same pan. I didn’t want to say anything when he came to the table to ask if we were ok. Maybe I should have told him. But my friend did that already. Sigh. I’m not sure I will return because it’s not in my neck of the woods and we have several restaurants closer to my area that offer the same type menu. I wish them the best and hope that they have continued success and improved customer service.

Unfortunately, this is not a good review. My husband drove 30mins to try this place out. We ordered the fish and ox tail. The pic attached is a picture of a $25 oxtail plate. This plate is untouched. My husband should not have left there with this plate… but he did. The ox tails are mostly bone and fat, and it is the smallest portion of ox tails I have ever received from a meat and three. The Mac and cheese is not good. The gravy is good though! My husband’s fish is sour or something. I have never had fish that tastes like this, it is awful and I told him he should not eat it. We looked on Yelp and saw good reviews but we should have checked Google. I am so disappointed because this food is poor quality with good seasoning. Seeing other reviews describing their food as “sour” tasting food makes me believe that the health department needs to check this place out. Something is wrong and I really am not trying to be rude. This is honestly concerning.

The ppl working there were very friendly but the meal was a let down in my opinion. Greens had a sour taste to them. My chicken was not all the way done I had trouble pulling my whole wings apart and they liked slightly pink! We had high hopes for this place by it being Black owned. Maybe we just came on the wrong day.

Ordered the shrimp and grits at $15 and it’s definitely not a $15 meal. The amount given was tiny! The order contained maybe 8 shrimp max and half the shrimp still had the tail on it. I don’t recommend coming here. For $15 you can purchase quality food and a bigger portion. Definitely not coming back here again.

The chicken that I ordered for myself, as well as the chicken that another patron ordered that was sitting near me was spoiled. He ordered the mild whole wings, and I ordered the whole wings with a mixture of two of their dry rubs. His chicken was extremely slimey, and smelled badly, and when I bit into one of my wings, it immediately tasted rancid, so I smelled it, as well as the chicken wing that it came from and it smelled HORRIBLE. I pray that they strive to serve and cook better quality food to their paying customers.
Also note: the cashier was as sweet as can be, but the place is filthy. Everything is sticky and the bathroom area smells pretty badly.

The food is delicious… however the two stars are because of the portions size! Very small, not feasible for the cost:( not cheap! Cornbread almost quarter size and they only give you one:(…. won’t be back! Atmosphere dreary:(

I’ve been patronizing a business adjacent to K Shena for a week now. I’ve eaten there 3 times in one week due to convenience because I’ve forgotten my lunch my wife packed. The lunch special is affordable, and the service is wonderful. I want to say that this is a gem hidden in the industrial section of Homewood not far from the Interstate It may be slightly out of the way, but it is definitely worth you taking the stop to experience delicious Chicken, Collards, Hamburger Steak, Black-Eyed Peas, Spaghetti, Hamburgers, etc. Their menu is specialized with daily specials because they are good at what they do. Skip Hamburger Heaven and try K Shena!

I was disappointed with my meal. The dressing was sour, the mac and cheese tasted sour also and the banana pudding was served hot. Additionally, my drink tasted terrible; it seemed like the dispenser needed to be changed. I spent almost $75 for a party of three, and everyone was let down. I had high hopes, but I don’t think I’ll be going back.

Ordered baked chicken, Mac & cheese, collard greens with rice, and the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Mac&cheese was sour as well as the mashed potatoes. Only gave me 2 little legs for my chicken and the hamburger steak was a bit undercooked with more oil than gravy. And my cornbread muffin that I had, which I asked for a roll, was stale and dry. Highly disappointed for the price I paid. Will not visit again
