Overall tastes are good but could be improved. In general all the dishes we ordered seem to be very oily. Some are really savory like the lamb, but the Peking duck and “fake crab” with fish and eggs, I’ve had better. Lastly but maybe the most important tip to improve your experience, call to reserve a table instead of waiting in the insane queue!

As I was born and grew up in Beijing, I’m glad I can taste my hometown in New York! I have patronized this restaurant many times, and I can say the taste of the food is mostly close to authentic Beijing cuisine. Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented.

Had a dinner celebration here last Friday, and it was a wonderful experience. Service was prompt and courteous. Thanks again for letting us keep the cake in the fridge until dessert! The tablet ordering function can be confusing, but we worked it out.

The duck and the fish soup is the star of the show. Fish soup, it is spicy at first but really good at the end. Skip the ink rice, it is only for show but taste way below average. You will be paying for show instead of the taste. It is good if you only have to wait for 1 hr, anything more, I would skip it.

We ordered the $109 pecking duck set and Asian pear soup. We like both, but wish the duck legs could be less dry/ hard.

Everything was five stars up until… tasting the Peking duck. Everything about the duck except for the taste of the meat was amazing – from the ultra crispy skin, to the tender meat, to the presentation in the treasure chest, to the thin and chewy pancakes. But, the marinated flavors of a traditional Peking duck — notes of hoisin, five spice, and plum, simply wasn’t there and I was quite disappointed. I’ve had much more flavorful in less fancy places like Manhattan Chinatown I think a place called Ping’s. That said, we loved the appetizers: stir fried thinly cut potatoes, the gluten cold dish, and the treasure pockets with roe that came in a liquid nitrogen platform. Lastly the honey yogurt was a perfect not so sweet dessert for topping everything off.

My fiancé has been talking about this place for weeks and it exceeded expectations! The duck was fantastic and the star of the show. It was so good, that I’m okay with some of the other dishes just being okay. The skin was crispy and the meat was so juicy. We also had the crispy fish, which I loved. It was perfectly fried. The squid fried rice was fun to watch at the table, although it tasted a tad like blood pudding to me. My least favorite was the cold appetizer box as they had some kind of dumpling with so much wasabi it made my eyes water. I would highly recommend coming for the duck!
