Such a great find! Jun Bistro delivers authentic Yunnan flavors with a modern touch. The dishes were flavorful without being overly spicy or greasy, which we really appreciated.

Perfect for a casual lunch and very friendly for families too. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the overall experience felt warm and welcoming. Highly recommend if you want something different from the usual Chinese fare!

I recently tried Jun Bistro in Milpitas, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The restaurant focuses on Yunnan and Guizhou flavors, and you can really taste the thought put into each dish. The flavors are layered and interesting—sour, savory, and aromatic all at once—and the textures make every bite enjoyable. The drinks were a nice touch too, adding a little sweetness or floral note to the meal. Overall, it’s a cozy spot with dishes that feel creative and different, without being over the top. Definitely a place I’d go back to if I wanted something flavorful and a bit out of the ordinary.

Had a wonderful lunch at Jun Bistro today! The food truly captures the essence of Yunnan cuisine—fresh, fragrant, and thoughtfully balanced. You can tell a lot of care goes into every dish, from the ingredients to the presentation.

We especially loved how the flavors were bold but not heavy, making it perfect even for a relaxed weekday lunch. Great spot if you’re looking for something authentic yet approachable. Will definitely be back to try more dishes!

This place had good reviews, so I decided to give it a try. We ordered three dishes—a mushroom & maitake, a stir‑fried Cheung Fun, and a stir‑fried beef. Unfortunately, all three dishes had the same flavor, the same very dark color, included American bacon strips, and were extremely salty. I’m not sure…maybe it’s a new style of half‑Yunnan, half‑American fusion?

Food was really good! So happy to see yunnan cuisine in the bay, although this one was more fusion, it definitely appeals to most people and its a great way to introduce diverse Chinese cuisine to them 🙂 so great concept.
Every dish we ordered was pretty balanced and flavorful. Highlights were the squid, the eggplant dip with rice crisp, and the mushroom arugula salad.
The banana leaf sea bass was a tad bland and overcooked, fried potatoes were so-so, not very well seasoned nor crispy, and the 酸汤肥牛 sour beef soup was great but the beef gets overcooked from the stove and just a tad too heavy for me. The laksa fried rice was good but not much laksa flavor.

Service was friendly but no reservation unless you’re the owners friend and even though their waitlist will say that there’s no wait, if you’re a large group you still have to wait. And they only have an AI agent for phone call so that doesn’t help lol

This is a Yunnan restaurant that specializes in mushroom dishes.
Every dish is quite interesting. In fact, even the simple fried potatoes are delicious because the sauce is very special.
I didn’t like the banana leaf wrapped fish very much because the sauce is sweet.

Server was super friendly !

I’ve been hearing that this restaurant offers authentic Yunnan hometown flavors, and since I haven’t been back home for almost three years, I’ve been missing the taste of home a lot—so I decided to give it a try.

I ordered the mushroom dish, beef aorta, and fried silkworm pupae. The mushrooms weren’t the wild mushrooms I was hoping for, but since I’ve missed them so much, they were still enjoyable. The beef aorta was very flavorful, seasoned nicely with classic Yunnan spices—I really liked it. As for the silkworm pupae, that’s truly a “Yunnan warrior” dish! Since it’s probably not ordered very often, it arrived a bit cold. I think it would be even better if served freshly fried.

Overall, this place definitely brought some comfort to my homesickness. I’ll be back to try more dishes and continue chasing those hometown flavors.

We had heard about Jun Bistro on social media for quite some time and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is said to offer authentic Yunnan and Guizhou–style Chinese cuisine, which we have enjoyed before at Ping’s Bistro 2 in Fremont, so our expectations were a bit high.

We ordered four dishes: Fermented Shrimp Sauce Stir-fried Beef Loin, Fried Quail with Salt and Pepper, Wild Hedgehog Mushroom & Maitake, and Braised Angus Beef Rice Noodles. Unfortunately, the dishes were mediocre and rather roughly prepared, and none of them stood out in terms of flavor. The rice noodles, in particular, were quite bland, and we ended up packing them to take home.

Service was also disappointing, as the staff appeared disengaged and inattentive. Overall, this experience fell short of our expectations, and we will likely explore better alternatives in the future.

I absolutely love this Yunnan restaurant!
It’s a total gem, especially for someone like me who loves bold and flavorful dishes. I saw they had some new items on the menu recently, so of course I had to come try them right away!

The food was just as amazing as always — full of aroma, depth, and that unique Yunnan spice kick. The Guizhou Stinky Shrimp Sour Stir-Fried Beef was incredibly flavorful — tangy, spicy, and packed with umami. It’s the kind of dish that keeps you reaching for another bite even when your mouth is on fire

And the Dai-Style Beef Offal Bone Broth Mushroom Hotpot was pure comfort in a pot. The broth was rich and milky, full of mushroom and beef flavor, and the combination of textures from the offal, beef, and wild mushrooms was just perfect.

Every visit here reminds me why this place is one of my absolute favorites. Highly recommend for anyone who loves authentic Yunnan and Guizhou flavors — intense, aromatic, and unforgettable!

We literally jumped for joy walking into @junbistro, a Yunnan-inspired California bistro built on a beautifully simple idea: blending the flavors of Yunnan with the spirit of California culture.

The name Jun carries so much meaning. It comes from 菌 (Jun)—the local word for mushrooms in Yunnan—and also echoes the month of June, when these mushrooms flourish in the wild. More than that, it represents the heart behind this place: creating a space where Joy, Nutrition, and Unprocessed food can be shared among friends and family. A true natural kitchen that brings you back to what’s authentic. Let’s Jun Big

We ordered a spread that truly reflects that philosophy:
Banana Leaf Wrapped Seabass — steamed whole with herbs and finished in a fragrant coconut laksa sauce
Spicy Sour Soup Beef with Guizhou Mujiang Seeds Oil — bold, tangy, and deeply comforting
Fermented Shrimp Sauce Stir-Fry Beef Loin — a Guizhou classic packed with umami
Fried Chicken with Tom Yum Sauce — crispy with a bright, zesty kick
Laksa Shrimp Fried Rice — rich, aromatic, and impossible to stop eating

From the warm, community-focused space to the friendly, welcoming service, every dish tastes like it was made with intention—food that reminds you of love, nature, and home. Asian-fusion done thoughtfully, rooted in Yunnan traditions and made for the Bay.
