The service was good but the sushi was mostly rice. The spicy tuna tasted off so we didn’t eat it. The tuna poke was sliced tuna and was slightly dry and not cubed. The avocado salad had the ingredients separately which also seemed weird. The avocado was nice and ripe though. The grocery store attached was a nice touch.
All plates are paper, real bowls. Good wasabi and ginger. The sushi rolls would be good for grocery store but not restaurant quality.

Joy Sushi Bar, a small Asian restaurant, is conveniently located next to and connected with the Santa Fe Asian Market in the St. Michaels Village shopping center. Upon entering, I found the simple Asian-themed decor, with room dividers and hanging motifs, created a quaint and charming atmosphere, though the temperature inside was a bit warm.
I watched the cook prepare sushi behind the counter and decided to order the dancing tiger sushi roll. The presentation was artistic and impressive. While the rice was a bit mushy for my taste, the rest of the roll was excellent, with a perfect balance of spice and flavor that surpassed my expectations. I would rate this sushi as superior to many other Asian restaurants in Santa Fe, with only a few places offering comparable quality at a higher price point.
Given the high quality of the meal, I was pleasantly surprised by the very fair price. Joy Sushi Bar is an excellent choice for a quick and delicious meal at a great value.

Avoid this place. There was saran wrap IN my sushi roll. I ordered a California roll and a nevada roll. It’s amateur night all around. Unagi was cold when I had asked questions prior to verify how it would be prepared. Paper plates and tiny plastic cups. No sushi case at bar. You have to order at the counter where you enter. They are connected to the market business next door.

This place has super affordable sushi that’s really good! It’s not crazy amazing – but standard, delicious sushi. I got sashimi and a cooks roll for 24$

Always good sushi and service.
We had Yummy roll, baked salmon Teriyaki bowl, spicy tuna, and crunch california.
Update 12/21/24: We tried one of the new items which was the Tuna Poke Bowl. It was so good. Of course my favorite Yummy Roll and the New Mexican Roll.
Miso Ramen with chicken.

Arrived at Joy’s just before closing. The staff and Chef were more than happy to prepare dinner for us. Would describe dinner as absolutely excellent. Fresh and tender salmon and sushi elegantly prepared. The ramen soup with chicken is not to be missed. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Finally opened and the two young Sushi chefs did a very good job of presentation and taste. Nice place inside. There are several things not quite up to par as of yet. Why are they serving your tea in large styrofoam cups? Come on people, this is 2024. Are you at all interested in your grandchildren having a Planet to live on? And serving Miso soup in a styrofoam cup? Are you completely asleep or what? The miso soup was overly salty. The seaweed salad was very good as were all the rolls we ordered. Ok? Work on it and we will come back for more.

One of the best places for great sushi at a reasonable price. We tend to get the Fusion Combo as it’s a lot of food.. 1 salad, 1 Miso, 2 traditional rolls plus 1 of each Type 1-3 rolls. The staff is always nice and friendly. They also serves beer, wine and sake/soju! I just wish it wasn’t so bright in there(personal pref), but otherwise A++
