The fish was very delicious and cooked well. Unfortunately, the cabbage tasted overly sweet, almost like sugar had been added, which I didn’t enjoy. I also wasn’t happy with the $5 box slice of cake — it didn’t feel worth the price. The collard greens and black-eyed peas were just okay, but what really disappointed me was how my roll was placed in with the peas and other foods, leaving it soggy and inedible (as someone who is very texture-sensitive, that ruined it for me). On top of that, the condiments I requested were forgotten. Overall, the meal wasn’t terrible, but between the soggy roll, missing condiments, and underwhelming sides, I don’t feel excited about eating here again. That said, I just might give it one more try in hopes this spot can redeem itself.

The only place to go for down home southern cooking!! My order was delivered quickly and still warm. Smothered Pork Chops were so flavorful and fall off the bone tender and moist. Fried chicken has a light crispy breading that has a great flavor and keeps the breast nice and moist. Black eyed peas, greens, sweet tators, hush puppies and home made rolls are all unbeatable flavors and taste amazing! Nothing frozen here! This is all the REAL DEAL!! Fried Chicken (White) and extra thigh were not fresh! Yams and mashed potatoes in same entree container and they spilled into each other! Rolls were put in the same container and got wet from condensation. Asked Dasher for lots of extra butter and only got one. Not a good experience on this trip! UPDATE 11/7/25 My delivery order came hot and all my food was fresh!! Ordered my usual Smothered Pork Chops, White meat fried chicken, greens, yams and mashed taters, rolls and hush puppies and it all was seasoned perfectly and tasted amazing at an affordable price! I believe the key to phenomenal food at this location is to order during peak periods or you run a very strong chance of getting old after the meal period dry and not so tasty food.

If you enjoy soul food this is the place to try. It’s the only place in Fuquay cooking Authentic soulfood. It reminds me of eating at Grandma’s house! Everything is good and mean everything! The food is always Hot & Yummy. The flavor profiles are consistent nothing is ever off. They have great hospitality, customer service, and the prices are reasonable. What more can you ask for?

Where do I begin?I actually went to this restaurant yesterday to meet with my employer and let me tell you…..The Beautiful that greeted me at the door was beyond pleasant,even though I did not dine in.She was so respectful and welcoming, that I told my husband we actually need to dine in there for the immaculate customer service and because the food smelt amazing and looked amazing. We will definitely be there before the end of the month to enjoy the dining experience and the amazing customer service. I pray blessings and amazing success over this establishment

Me and my family came today 10/18/25 for the 1st time. I ordered (Whitining fish) *Made to Order so took some time* They made it exactly how I like it extra crispy. (I asked for it to be that way) Yams, Mac n cheese (Lil salty) but still good, wasn’t overpowering and hush puppies. Hubby ordered Whitining fish, collard greens, mac n cheese and hush puppies. My daughter got fried chicken, mac n cheese and mash potatoes. Only drinks available was bottle or fountain drinks *Tea & Lemonade * Employees was so nice. Decor needs to be upgraded but not terrible. Definitely would come back again! $40-$49 for 3 dinners w/free refills Recommend to try…

This place took me back to a simpler time. A time when people left Sunday service, dialed up to the nines, and broke bread over fried chicken, black-eyed peas, and some of the best greens I’ve had in my life. The food was incredible and the greeting from Joyce herself was as warm and sweet as the candied yams. We need more places like this in the world.

My goodness, where do I start? After ALL the rave about this restaurant, I finally tried it after living here 3yrs now. I ordered the smoothred hamburger with mash, corn, potato salad. Then i ordered the smothered pork chops with rice, mac and collards. Well I didn’t receive the rice, the pork chops were old as hell smothered in some thick old bottom of the pan gravy. (Gross) The Mac was some kraft from the store, the collards taste like they pulled them from the ground and didn’t season or clean them, they were gritty. Potato salad was passable, corn was straight out the can and heated. Basically, I gave the chops to my dog. This entire meal was dog food.
My take on this, is keep driving by. It’s a ragged building that looks closed. I know the people might be nice but, I’d close this establishment ASAP!

There is no place better than Joyce’s! If you know her story, you know she came from humble beginnings. the bottom line, The food and atmosphere is 10 out of 10. Vegetables make you feel like you had grandma’s house. If you haven’t been You must go. Be sure to leave a review when you do.
