Joy Wok is SUPER! They have an excellent selection that is always hot and fresh. It’s got a great newer location, and even kept the koi fish (don’t forget to buy some fish food at the front desk!) They have very good pho, great crab legs(weekend only), crawfish, hibachi, very good quality sushi and sashimi, and desserts. Honestly everything is delicious. Most chinese buffets have fresh fruit, but Joy Wok has such good produce you have to save a little room on your dessert plate for it. They also have a bar! It’s cheaper Mon-Thurs, Fri-Sun the crab legs are worth the $30 price for sure. Very good and they have enough stock so that no one goes without. Service is great and my cup is never empty and dishes only stay on the table for a minute or two before they are whisked away with a smile. Highly recommend for any occasion, and they do have a private party room for large groups!

It wasn’t one of the best buffet experiences. The food variety was very limited, and the place was honestly a mess. I didn’t take pictures of the guest area because it would’ve been awkward, but it was really dirty. I understand it was a busy Sunday night, but still — people shouldn’t be spitting food or leaving such a mess on the carpet and everywhere else.
I’ll never plan to go here again on a Sunday evening — the price is double, the quality is low, and the environment is chaotic. The waiter also forgot our lemonade, but I didn’t even bother to remind them because my appetite was already gone.
I’m giving these stars only for the hibachi — it was just okay.

We were invited for a relatives birthday. It was a massive size restaurant with any and everything you could want. I was surprised how good the food was considering the amounts they cook. We went on Crab leg night but there were so many different dishes I didn’t make it to the Crab legs. The waiters were amazing, the fast pace and amount of tables and people were unbelievable. It is definitely more than a Super Buffet. And we definitely will return.

I really enjoy coming to Joy Wok in Overland Park. The buffet has a huge variety of food Chinese dishes, sushi, hibachi, and lots of seafood. Everything tastes fresh, and there’s always something new to try. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and they do a good job keeping plates cleared and drinks refilled. It’s a great spot for families or groups because everyone can find something they like. The seafood, especially the crab legs, is my favorite. Overall, it’s a fun place to eat and definitely worth the visit.

The atmosphere was a 3 because the carpeting was FILTHY. It had not been cleaned or replaced in years.

So, lets get the bad stuff over. First off, as I was walking back to our booth with my plate, I glanced into the Koi pond to see a giant Koi lying dead on the bottom, surrounded by a bunch of smaller Koi, and the turtle trying to climb the wall. So sad. I showed the hostess the dead fish and she said there must be something wrong with the water because fish had been dying for 3 days or so. Call me silly, but that’s enough to keep me from going back. The fish was still there when we left. The food was so so. The best things I had were the chicken wings, and the mango jello. The service was attentive and friendly. Bathroom was nice and clean. Looks like there were a couple of rooms for large groups or events.

Once again, I saw it on TikTok and wanted to give it a try. They open at 11AM, we arrived shortly after that. We were seated immediately and placed orders for drinks. Pepsi products only, FYI
The selection of food was not as large as I expected however there was a variety of different dishes and a hibachi station. Although I was mostly interested in trying the sushi station because I love sushi.
The sushi is prepared in house and they made several rolls to choose from so I loaded up my plate, grabbed some chop sticks and wasabi. Needless to say the sushi was less than satisfactory. It was warm, the salmon tasted mushy and it just was not good. I did not finish it all. Ive had better tasting grocery store sushi.
The service was good. Our waitress was friendly and for me and my two kids (who barely ate anything) our total was a little over $40.
I wont be back but glad I finally tried it.

We went on a very busy night so it was very crowded, but the food and service were great. We went for my daughters birthday, the whole back room ended up singing happy birthday to her and watched her open gifts. Fun time! I love that they switched to serving the crablegs, instead of self serve. It makes it to where there are always crab legs available.

This Chinese buffet is one of the better buffets I’ve ate at in the Kansas City metro area. My family and I ate here on New Year’s Day 2025. The restaurant wasn’t busy.
This Chinese buffet had a large variety of different options but not too much to where you can’t try everything.
I tried white rice, steamed asparagus, green beens, sushi, roast beef, fruit, cheesecake, ice cream.
The prices were reasonable.
I would definitely go back. The location was in a nice area on metcalf Ave.
