Reviews
1) They dropped the rag onto the dirty floor (see photo) they used to wipe down tables and they just picked it up and wiped down our dirty table for us with this floor rag.
2) The floor was horrible. Food everywhere. I would not be surprised if there was a cockroach issue here. I will report this to the health department.
3) The hibachi grill guy was not very friendly. Didn’t acknowledge you when you needed to place an order. Didn’t respond to thank yous or how are yous.
4) I would not return.
Being in town for KC Retro we always look for a Sunday meal that can please everyone.
We landed in Joy Wok because it reminded us of China Buffet in Austin based on the menu and Google reviews.
We arrive and we we’re greeted by a sign that said $25.99 buffet.
You’re walked to a table, then they ask for your drink order. Past that it is a buffet so you do everything yourself.
The normal selection is there. You got your fried foods and Chinese. You’re different types of skewers. There’s a gentleman making sushi and then there is roast beef section.
There wasn’t much people getting the mongolian stir fry because there is nobody’s servicing the service area. We stood there for 15 minutes and didn’t receive any type of help.
There is kids running around everywhere unattended. They were dropping utensils on the floor and putting it back into the food, dropping food into various places that it shouldn’t be and just overall not a good look for the spreading of germs.
The big hit for everybody it seen was the crag legs and it seemed to be what they kept bringing out the most of.
I think the reason why I’m doing this review more and anything is because it was just made it at best for food but what really bothered me was when I got the bill it said it was $96. I only had three $25.99 meals and even with 12% tax there’s no way it should have been $95.
He purposely did not bring an itemized receipt so I had to go to the counter and ask for the copies. They where reluctant to provide it at first iinsisting that it was the tax.
Once I receive the itemized bill it showed a 10% service charge. They could not explain why it was their but since I had already paid I decided this review would be more appropriate.
Demand a itemized receipt. Do not pay until you do.
This third and final time however…the food wasn’t so great and the service was terrible. I called before I arrived to confirm their lunch time and cost. The guy at the desk answered initially by only saying “hello”…as if he was at home. When I arrived, he was on his phone and didn’t even acknowledge I had walked in. I walked over and spoke to him and he responded like me interrupting whatever he was doing was such a bother. The waitress initially was very sweet and hospitable. She asked what I wanted to drink. I responded “Pepsi” then asked if a drink was included. She responded yes. However, when the check came I noticed I was charged extra for the drink. I pointed that out to her and she then informed me the drink was not included. I responded that she told me different when I originally asked and she responded with, “Oh my English isn’t that good.” I didn’t feel I should have to pay for that misunderstanding, especially since I barely even drank the drink. So I took the check to the guy at the desk to fix. After explaining the issue, the guy sacastically says “Sure, you want a free drink.” The waitress then walks over to the desk and the guy tries to explain what she needs to do differently to avoid this misunderstanding. Instead of listening and accepting accountability, she blurts out how bad her English with an attitude then storms off. The young boy claims he was the manager, but said it with a smirk so I didn’t believe him. Either way, their customer service definitely needs a lot of work.
Also, prior to eating, I witnessed a customer follow another waitress to her work station and confront her about not washing her hands after leaving the bathroom. Again, no accountability was taken and that young lady got an attitude and got loud with the customer and young boy when he came to discuss that situation with her.
