Cute little Japanese & sushi bar in downtown Annapolis, Maryland. Really enjoyed the house cold sake. Was sweet & refreshing sake with very little bite. The tempura was cooked great, had a nice crisp. Finished off with a sushi platter that I picked out the rolls. The spicy scallop roll was my favorite.

I’m torn. This ‘is’ my recommended spot in the city for everyone to try the best sushi. Things change. Sure this California roll with blue fin was great, but the spot lacked energy at all dinner rush. It felt that the small shop I once adorned the warm welcome had become too big, too empty to stay the same and filled with too many hands performing too many distracting things for me to enjoy a visit.

We ordered three different meals and all three were very disappointing. The roll was mostly rice, tofu was overcooked and greasy, salmon tartar didn’t taste fresh I am puzzled as we had a great meal a few years ago ‍♀️ the place smelled bad, and they could care less if we ever came back or not.

Cindy could not have been a better waitress! Not only was she extremely knowledgeable on the menu (which felt like we had a sushi tour guide through the night and it was awesome) but she was so sweet and personable, really all you can hope for when you go out to eat service-wise. I’ve never eaten here before (let alone raw fish lol) but I 100% will be coming back for the great service! Now that I think about it, there wasn’t a single worker who didn’t smile at me as I walked by, seems like you guys have a really great staff!

Joss Cafe & Sushi Bar in Annapolis is outstanding! We celebrated our anniversary here, and the entire experience was perfect from start to finish. Lea, our server, was amazing—so attentive, kind, and genuinely went above and beyond to make our evening special. She added thoughtful touches that made us feel truly celebrated.

The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting—ideal for a memorable night out. With exceptional service and quality, Joss will quickly become our favorite spot in Annapolis. Highly recommend for any special occasion or simply a great meal!

Food was overpriced (likely due to location and/or rent) and unmemorable. Our appetizer sampler came with a jumbo shrimp that was not deveined. We considered this unacceptable for the apparent quality and price they were charging. Brought it up to waitress but this was ignored by the restaurant. Fatty tuna roll didn’t have much flavor and the garlic scallop roll didn’t have much garlic flavor.

Service was mediocre and slow despite the few lunch customers.

Restaurant is showing age and the back left and upstairs is turning into storage space for various items.

The food and the service were really good. If you order 7 rolls or more they will give you a boat. The sushi is worth the price. Amazing

Nice, cozy spot in Annapolis with a warm atmosphere. The food was very good and the quality of the ingredients stood out, especially the sushi. That said, the experience was slightly impacted by the service — I’m not sure if it was the restaurant’s policy or our server (Cindy), but there was very little flexibility with requests or small changes to sushi plates, and the approach felt a bit pushy. Overall, solid food in a pleasant space, but service flexibility could improve.

I’ve loved coming here over the years.
Something has changed drastically in the past few months. I love the sweet faces behind the sushi bar.
Nothing but kindness from them:)
However you can’t get past the awful attitude and treatment from the servers. We were welcomed with annoyance and haste.
The server with short blonde and brownish hair, treated us very unkindly. We were not noticed arriving as 2 servers sat there speaking about using the expired products from Thanksgiving.
GROSS. No excuse.
Then we asked a simple question about seating. Then we were spoken to swiftly with attitude.
If you don’t want to serve. Don’t. Simple.
Many people are looking for jobs. Don’t waste them.
You can’t dress a snake in sheep’s clothing.
I’ve seen overtime the restaurant fall short.
It’s devastating to see as a regular over the years.

The food is good but the taste is diminished with awful service.
Sadly my husband nor I will be coming or recommending this place!

Ordered $90 worth of carryout just to get home and realize no soy sauce and no chopsticks. How does a sushi spot forget to give its customer that
