Used to love this place, would order takeout often and it was always wonderful, but it’s not the same quality anymore, not even close. Everything was different, the meat sauce seems watered down and flavorless, the cheese now appears to be a cheap slice of cheese on top of the burrito, and the burrito was nothing special and lacking flavor. A small wet burrito and two tacos was 21 dollars, while expensive, I would have paid that for the old Jose’s. Whatever this restaurant has become now, the price is ridiculous for the poor food you’re putting out, which is extremely disappointing because it used to be great, consistently. This is not the first time I’ve noticed it going downhill and changing, however it will definitely be the last time eating here unless it goes back to before somehow.

I managed to stop by after passing this restaurant for a few years. I always saw they were open late, and I can kind of understand why; they must get a decent number of customers after they leave bars. The food certainly strikes me as an after drinking meal. My beef enchiladas were covered with cheese, beef, and some sort of sauce. They actually did taste good, but the look wasn’t great. The refried beans were actually the worst part, and they tasted metallic. The service was friendly and attentive, but the atmosphere seemed kind of depressing. I really wanted to give a higher rating, but this is about as good as I could give.

The owners are the nicest people ever. I came in with a food allergy and they let me read the ingredient labels, I have never felt so safe eating at a restaurant. Also just some of the kindest and funniest people to talk to. We had a party of 12 and they still brought our food out so fast. Amazing restaurant

I tried this for the first time last night. I got the combination platter. Everything was good. They did forget our queso and gave us a 16 ounce thing of gravy instead, which I believe should have been queso. Bummer bc we really wanted to try the queso and chips. Other than that, pretty good. Lady that took our order was very nice

I love this place because I go with my dad often. He’s retired now so we don’t go as often as we used to. This makes me sad. The lady in the kitchen is so nice. 4 of 5 sombreros

just got the all meat chicken wet burrito, the meat sauce is disgusting. I had to pull the chicken from deep inside to get what is in the pic. Lots of lettuce. Food came out really really fast. Did not taste fresh. Chicken seems heavily processed. Not to happy that a fountain pop costs 2.29 and only allowed one refill. No knife included in silverware. Customer service was really good though, friendly staff. Don’t think I’ll be back but Maybe I’ll come back and try something else without chicken.

Nice little local spot for half tex mex half authentic Mexican food. Been coming here for years for their wet burrito. Usually we take to go, today we ate in. The gravy they use on top of their burritos is fantastic – but it’s not the traditional red burrito gravy. The place always looks and smells clean when you walk in the door and the service is usually good. Pictured is the large ground beef wet burrito – you can’t go wrong here!

For Grand Rapids Michigan to be the home of the wet burrito, I was terribly disappointed! The only thing I can say is that burrito was garbage! The sauce was watered down the tortilla was doughy and no flavor at all. The original burrito was served with pico de gallo and sour cream with your choice of verde. When I asked for them they said it cost a dollar for each one! I was flabbergasted. So I asked around for who had the best wet burrito. Everyone told me there aren’t any anymore! The Beltine Bar used to be the best place in town and now they are even worse than Jose’s! So it looks like I will have to make them at home!
Please don’t waste your money or your time!
Sorry I didn’t get pics of the actual food but in the moment I was so upset I sent it back before I thought to take a pic

1st time…. no chip in salsa was served!

Wet Burrito sauce is not like any tomato or enchilada taste, weird and very watery! The quality of the meat and temperature was disappointing. Very little lettuce and not impressed with overall quality and portions. Tacos were okay nothing special…

My order was not correct. I had ordered my burrito with everything, but it did not have everything. And it wasn’t a way to check without breaking it open.
So I got what I wanted, but not what I wanted.
Or should I say not the way I wanted it besides that? If it’s a regular, busy place
And I woulda enjoyed my food more if it was made. The way I wanted it.
