When the employee finally came out, she was polite and apologized, but she told me the reason for the delay was that customers kept returning food because a new worker was touching food with her hair and mixing up orders. She told me not to worry and that my food would be safe.
When I got home, about five minutes away, the food was not good. I asked for the fries to be cooked hard, but all of them were soggy and smashed, and the burger was ripped apart. I’m not even going to eat this food. I’d rather just go somewhere else. I flagged the charge with my bank as fraud and attached the pictures to my report, because if a place refuses refunds or remakes and still takes your money without giving you what you ordered, that’s fraud and illegal.
I uploaded pictures of this garbage they call food
Now let’s talk about the fries!!! Many of the Coney Islands here in Detroit use regular size fries or they use crinkle cut fries. I don’t like that I only like the shoestring fries. Those fries are similar to the McDonald’s fries. So now due to my extreme palette and preference I only get chili cheese fries from this particular Coney Island. It is always fresh. I only get it around once every three months.
The Lettuce was wilted bad.
I don’t like eating toxic Lettuce.
The whole sandwich needs to be reworked from a burger-style.
Start by using a bun that’s big enough to accommodate the steak.
Then cook the steak.
This should Not be looking anything like a hamburger.
Add diced onion, mushrooms and cheese. NO tomato and lettuce!
Add optional bird chili.
A-1 sauce on the side. NO MAYO! ITS NOT A HAMBURGER. I didn’t even get the option of no mayo.
As it is, the whole thing falls apart when you try to eat it. It’s a mess.
And don’t raise the price, it’s already too much for what you get.
If the owner is that out of touch with the food and has such disrespect for the customers, I won’t be back.
And I wasn’t the only customer angry with the food.
People be coming in from drive-thru to complain.
My kids also had a blast with the frozen blue raspberry slushies we ordered in large sizes; they were practically extra large! My son enjoyed the mozzarella cheese sticks, which came in a generous portion. The accompanying ranch sauce was tangy and savory, making the perfect dip.
While we opted for drive-thru and didn’t dine in, I should note that the location isn’t the safest, but it’s conveniently close to Grosse Pointe Park. Overall, Joseph’s is a fantastic spot for a quick meal that the whole family can enjoy..
Today I decided to give them a second shot. The beets on my salad were spoiled. My stomach is becoming upset & I don’t even want to get there and face the same foolishness.
The woman taking the orders was pleasant, even friendly.
Would be nice if the menu was visible anywhere expect behind the woman taking the orders. I assume standing and perusing it would incur the ire of many at peak times so I just ordered 2 Coneys – wanted 3 but @ 2 for 1 you get them in pairs only apparently – and had them in hand about a minute later .
The prison cafeteria vibe isn’t endearing at all, though. Queue up at the window (wrapping around the drink machine), pay and wait for your order to be called.
50s music was playing at a reasonable volume while the local news was on at a slightly louder volume.
The 5 tables all needed to be cleaned, most had leftover/left behind packaging, some just needed to be wiped down. Both trash cans were full to the brim. The only napkins come in the bag.
It appears a lot, probably a significant majority, of their business is drive-thru & carry-out.
There are numerous signs that further degrade the dining experience vibe.
The coneys were solid, no standouts but fine. $3.29 per pair. I asked for a cup for some water and got charged for a fountain drink. My total was $5.08 with tax. A cheap and filling lunch but not an experience I’d choose to repeat. (And I filled my cup on the way out since I’d paid for it.)
You need to be buzzed in to the restroom, too. It may have actually been cleaner than the dining area.
