The ratings are high so I had to try. Authentic feeling when you walk in. The chips were warm and salty, the salsa had great flavor and a little kick; perfect. I ordered the soft Authentic Chile Rellenos. They are offered soft or crispy. I was disappointed in my choice. The flavor was lacking. The breading and peppers were ok but expecting more flavor. The rice was moist and good along with the black beans. The waitress was too busy as she drops the food and then check and doesn’t slow down enough to ask for anything or grab her. I would like to try this place again and update the review.

The portions are big! The hottest green chili isn’t that hot. Margaritas are good! Service is mediocre. You serve your own chips and salsa. We went and it wasn’t that busy so service should have been better.

Decent local spot for Mexican food. We’ve been here four or five times and have had a range of experiences. The first time we dined at Jose O’Sheas a few years ago, we had some of the most notable high quality service. We raved about it – the server was friendly, personable, our drinks were never more than an inch down before being refilled, chips and salsa were constantly replenished, food came hot and fast. Total 5 star service! We left so impressed. The next time we dined there, it was the complete opposite and some of the worst service we’ve had in a long time – we were ignored for 20 minutes before a server even came to our table, they were unfriendly, food took a long time and came out luke warm and even before our drinks ever came. Zero star service. The other two times it was pretty average, nothing over the top or sub par. The margaritas are pretty good, food is alright, the space is big and can accommodate groups and the style is festive and colorful. The chips and salsa are good, and the chips come out warm and they usually do a good job with refilling them. If you’re interested in the soup, ask them to combine the tortilla soup and chicken and rice soup – it’s a good combo!

Probably the most bland Mexican food I’ve ever had! Not sure how this place is still in business other than people not wanting to travel to better places to eat.

Great food, great environment. We sat near the bar. The bartender told us there is a salsa and chip bar self-serve (which was helpful since it was our first experience). The house alcohol Margarita wasn’t the best. I’d recommend avoiding that. The food was delicious!

From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with the lively atmosphere, the colorful décor, and the aroma of authentic flavors.

Mexican food isn’t my favorite but this one is pretty okay. The restaurant looks cool inside, plus you can take Spanish lessons while doing your business in the bathroom.

I’ve been coming here for many years and this has always been a neighborhood favorite of mine. Lots of memorable experiences here, including one 10+ years ago when 2 friends of mine got in a fight on the outside upstairs balcony (one put the other in a chokehold who then had a beer bottle smashed over his head) after they had a bit too much to drink. Good times, great food, strong drinks, and great and friendly staff that put up with us for so long.
