Service was great. EVERYONE was friendly and accommodating. Ambiance was a bit cold and like a diner. Cocktails were spectacular. I preferred “The Mango One.” Green curry with chicken was delicious; flavors on point, but I could do without the bone. Drunken Noodles also very tasty, but odd to have skinny noodles instead of classic fat noodles. Enjoyed the meal but unsure to return.

Service is awesome. Flavors are great but everything is too salty esp the pork jowl…and I’m southeast Asian.
We needed more vinegar or lime on the side.

Jo’s is dynamite! Love dinner and the new lunch menu is fantastic. Portions are perfect, love the presentation and flavors. Will definitely be back. Thank you!

The food was good not great. Ordered the brisket drunken noodle, a wok charred cabbage and two Thai teas. The brisket overpowered the dish and the fried egg while tasty didn’t warrant spending $6.5 for a single egg. The brisket while tender felt like it was added after the drunken noodles were cooked, tasting like a separate dish rather than finding balance and cohesion. The cabbage was excellent, the best of everything. The drinks were acceptable though probably should have tried one of their many mixed drinks. Loved the service and atmosphere though next time I’d probably try the lobster.

Fantastic flavors and options . We had the wings, vegan coconut cake, oysters, charcoal claypot pork jowl. We loved every single dish we tried. Can’t wait to go back to try their other dishes!

I’m a local to the neighborhood and used to be a regular here. I chose to continue visiting this place even after the original staff walked out due to poor treatment by the management and ownership. I kept coming not because of anything great about the place but because it was in the neighborhood. Then my turn came around. I planned to meet a friend there to celebrate her birthday. While waiting on her I order food from Joes and then ran across the street and ordered some KFC to take with me. I came back and sat at the bar while waiting on my food and drink to arrive. A server came to me and said the owners said you can’t have the KFC in here. I replied I’m not eating it, it’s in the bag and I don’t drive what do you propose I do? She replied I don’t know but you can’t have the KFC in here. I as I got up to leave the food I ordered from Joes came out. The bartender who I formed a relationship with over the months offered it to me for free. I declined. I haven’t been back, I don’t recommend you go. For good food and pleasant ownership try Phnom Penh right across the street (been in business for 20 years GREAT family owned spot), or Wawa on Macarthur and Maple. I don’t like this new bougie vibe Joes is trying to bring to East Oakland. Keep that downtown.

I live in the Millsmont neighborhood and had heard great things about Jo’s so we finally went to try it tonight. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. They were understaffed but the service was actually pretty good. The food; however, was so disappointing. We ordered the Lobster pad thai, the charcoal clay pot and jo’s famous wings as an appetizer. I think the wings were the only thing i actually enjoyed. The pad thai was OK, but I’ve tried much better pad thais in other thai restaurants in the area. The dish that was almost not edible was the clay pot. The cook had put so much fish sauce that all you could taste was the fish sauce. All dishes were on the saltier side. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but there are much better alternatives in Oakland, and less pricey. I will not be going back.

We recently went there for dinner with friends. The experience was unforgettable, both the taste and the service were spectacular.
If you have any allergies/preference, please tell your waiter ahead of time so they can let you know the options and alert the chef. Every dish we tried has various layers of flavors and textures.
The only downside of this place is there’s only one bathroom so it takes a bit of wait sometimes to use it.
We will definitely come back to try more dishes!

From the moment we walked into this Thai fusion restaurant, we were blown away. The atmosphere had such a warm, homey feel. Everyone greeted us with big smiles and genuine friendliness. It immediately set the tone for a great night.
We honestly weren’t sure what to expect, but the food turned out to be surprisingly amazing. Every dish had incredible flavor without being overwhelming, and there was something on the menu for everyone. The cocktails were absolutely declious!
The service made the experience even better. Jack and TK were outstanding, attentive and kind. They made us feel truly taken care of.
And of course, the perfect ending: dessert. Our little daughter loved it so much that it might’ve been her favorite part of the night!
Overall, a fantastic spot we can’t wait to come back to. Highly recommend!
