The cook also knows how to fry hush puppies too…the problem with the hush puppies is that they have No flavor At All. The addition of some finely chopped onions would make a huge difference!
The coleslaw was chopped Way too fine and was Way too sweet! The only flavor was sugar. Look up the coleslaw recipe from Cock of the Walk if you want lots of repeat customers!
The prices for what’s on offer are very high. The desserts in the display case looked good but were priced too high.
This place Could be a gold mine for the owners given the location if they’d take this constructive criticism to heart and make these changes. People won’t mind waiting a bit for Good food but, sadly, this is currently not the case at Jordan’s.
Missing anything.
A while ago, another fish house (40 mile vicinity) opened up. It has a mirror image menu and even serves hush puppies with cheese. Similar to Guthrie and Raising Canes issue.
Better than the other place:
Hushpuppies pair better with the cheese sauce
Fried fish tastes better
They leave a pitcher of water at your table
Restaurant is cleaner
Sells cotton blues cheesecake and other to go desserts.
Three servings of fries were cold during different parts of the meal. I understand fresh food and not using heat lamps, however, I would rather a heat lamp with, at a minimum warm food, than cold. Unless you dip them into the cheese sauce, Hushpuppies have a salty taste. There’s nothing chopped or added; it’s literally a ball of cornmeal batter fried. They, came out lukewarm. Using butter does not help them. The cheese sauce helps elevate the hush puppy.
The shrimp and catfish platter was cooked throughout. BUT for the price? Not worth it. What in the world was this portion? Unless this is Jordan’s Kid Portion Fish Camp….
The “All you can eat”: after you eat your first 3 fish, and the second portion (2 fish), it takes an average of 6 minutes to get another filet. Waiting while your fish is caught, skinned, and cooked- you’re still hungry! So you either have the option of coleslaw or Hushpuppies to eat. This makes you less full, and eat less fish. You don’t get your moneys worth in the AYCE.
I wouldn’t make a trip here if you have decent seafood around. Unless you are completely bored or your friend is driving and paying. There is not many restaurants in the area which can bring a 2 star to a 4 quick.
There’s a reason this was the first established fish house around, their fish is cooked better and the service is friendlier. But the price, their game in the “AYCE”, and temperature of the food is sub par.
