After a nice day at Baby Beach in Dana Point, my wife and I were craving clam chowder. We decided to look around for places nearby and decided to give Jon’s Fish Market a try. We were really hungry and my wife even said this place better not suck (our clam chowder bread bowl standards are high). With the first bite she looked and me and said “This is delicious “. Very flavorful, creamy, and without a doubt one of our favorite clam Chowder bread bowls. The staff was super awesome and very helpful. Will definitely come back here again.

Busy busy place by the harbor which serves fresh fish and if you are in a rush maybe it’s not the ideal place to eat. We were coming from the Catalina island and on our way back home we wanted to eat something local. We saw some tables available and a small line and guessed we were lucky to get sat quick. Apparently they were short in staff and the place became so chaotic. It looks like you need to give them your name and how many people and then they call you . It’s an old style technique, they use pen and paper for that. They guy at the entrance was so nice to let us sit at a random table which was not clean from the previous patrons. We were ok as we just wanted to eat and leave. To be honest it took a while to have that guys talk to us as one person was checking guests in, bring food and some other work, so again , if you are in a rush … don’t consider this especially during rush hour. We did not get fork with our order , we had to ask for. The French fries were a little cold although the fish was good, except no salt on it. We ordered halibut and chips and scallops and chips. The scallops were good but not great. However, the food kept us full for 8-9 h until we made it home. In conclusion, take this place into consideration when you have plenty of time and eat there if they seem slower.

Love the chill restaurant! Rad location. Excellent halibut fish and chips. Killer tartar sauce. Lobster season in October! Enjoy a beer or glass wine by the docks in Dana Point. Super casual, as in T-shirt and shorts, flip flops.

We were trying to go to Turks, but they were too packed and we had hungry kids. Decided to try Jon’s Fish Market since they were right there and not busy. We had six people and they had small, square, four person tables, so we asked if we could push two of them together. The host said no, the manager doesn’t allow it. So we squeeze in at a small table and see a group on the other end pushing two tables together to accommodate their large party. One of the employees relented at that point since there were other people doing it. Then when my 5 year old needed to use the restroom we asked where it was and the employee pointed in the general direction, as they are restrooms for all the businesses there, and said they’re right over there, didn’t you see them? I replied that I had not but I was sure we could find them. The food was good, but after our experience I would NEVER go back.

This is a family favorite! We always love the fish and chips!!! I ordered the local catch of the day – White Sea Bass, blackened with a little bit of garlic. Not too heavily seasoned, served flaky and toasty! The calamari was tasty, but a bit tough, the breading was too thick and crunchy today. Very friendly servers. Nice covered patio with solid new furniture and plenty of propane outdoor warming towers. We’ll be back, again and again. So happy they are up and running for both carry out and sit down.

Pretty solid fish & chips (nice crusty batter and perfectly cooked) but I feel like prices are a little bit too inflated. Food took an extremely long time but that’s to be expected on a weekend down at the Harbor. Excellent service though.

Waiter super friendly, but the food was horrible. My husband got a calamari sandwich tasted like cardboard bread pudding with a hint of salt water, it was just a nasty sandwich and made him sick.and I got the swordfish annd halibut and chips. My batter was doughy and raw in the middle, had no seasoning what’s so ever probably would have been better going to long john silver .. the wait for the food was about 45-50 minutes , we can hear the waitress coming inside arguing with the chefs about how people were complaining about their wait time and they were getting frustrated and saying well they have to wait, there’s a lot of people. , they sat me at a table with no cutlery, ketchup or hot sauce on the table. I had to ask for it., the soda comes in a weird paper cup, which I had to get refilled three times because of the wait! The staff was like 5-6 young men who were goofing off half the time not paying attention to giving good service. Honestly I can’t say nothing good about this place with the exception of one waitress that was really nice and discounted our raw food but other then that it’s a pretty horrible place to eat
