This place escaped my notice for a long time, but I’m so glad I finally found JoLa Café. It’s charming, affordable, and cozy. These days in Portland, it’s hard to find an affordable sit-down neighborhood café, and JoLa really delivers.
The atmosphere feels like a true local spot… friendly, welcoming, with solid food, pleasant music, art on the walls, and plenty of places to tuck yourself away to do a bit of work or meet a friend.
The Moroccan chicken salad and pesto sandwich are my favorites. If I’m grabbing something on the go, the breakfast burrito is great too. They’ve also started doing monthly(ish) set-course dinners, and they are SO. GOOD.
It’s nice to feel a bit of community in small ways, and JoLa Café does that in spades.

Perfection in a weekday and a macarone and mint tea. Simple and awesome. Smart cafe with excellent barista. Order the mocha and leave the lid off. Try the berry smoothie and avocado toast. Haven’t had a real dinner in a while? Treat yo self!! Their dinner is refined and full service. Expect to be happily surprised.

Great coffee spot with umbrella covered outdoor seating and ample indoor seating as well; good seating for nice days and rainy days. JoLa serves a variety of hot beverages and they’re able to make that variety at a high level. Pleasant and calm atmosphere in a great neighborhood. Here is a tip for visitors who don’t live in the neighborhood: you don’t need to wait for one of the few spots in the gravel lot, nor do you have to double park and wait for one of the street spots directly in front of the cafe. On-street parking is available up and down Corbett Ave, on connecting streets, or on parallel streets.

One of my favorite breakfast spots! We used to live nearby and walked here all the time, and even after moving, we still come back on the weekends because it’s just that good.
The food is always delicious, with great gluten-free options, excellent coffee, and even kombucha on tap (a huge plus!). The atmosphere is calm, cozy, and relaxed, perfect for a quiet breakfast or even catching up on a few work emails. I also love the rotating art on the walls; it really adds to the charm.
The staff is consistently friendly and helpful. On our last visit, my husband couldn’t decide between the salmon hash and the biscuits and gravy, and the staff recommendation of the biscuits and gravy did not disappoint! he loved it!
We absolutely love this place and will continue coming back for years. Highly recommend!

Very cute, TARDIS-like cafe (it’s bigger on the inside!)
I had an Americano but the barista made BEAUTIFUL coffee art for others- I was low-key jealous. Very friendly, helpful staff- they seem genuinely happy to be there. Such a welcoming, open ambience. Food was fresh, flavorful, and delicious.

Stopped in today to work for a bit while my kiddo was busy doing something. Really nice place, the burrito was delicious with bunch of different hot sauce options.
Way bigger inside than was expecting so was able to find place to sit no problem.
Only reason not 5 star is the WiFi wasn’t working making it a bit harder to get some work done.

Jola cafe has happy hour and evening dinner now Tues-Sunday and the offerings are high quality with a selected chef/cook who makes authentic food that rivals the menu’s I’ve had at the downtown concerthall/museum blocks and at a much better value. what a ge! Jola owner’s have a winery dinner business and so they offer a vetted wine list and there is a wonderful bartender who mixes cocktails and mocktails. having lived and travelled in european countries I really appreciate the owner and manager’s Euro-American decision to test out an evening menu. happy hour drinks are discounted and the feel is casual Euro neighborhood cafe. These folks constantly seek to tweak and experiment to keep customers and their own standards are high.

Cute breakfast spot – tons of space inside and a very cozy atmosphere. Got a breakfast sandwich which was only okay, which was partially my fault for subbing out the default biscuit with a bagel. The bagel was very hard and the sandwich didn’t seem to fit inside a bagel profile.

Wow! I couldn’t love this restaurant any more!
The atmosphere is sophisticated and yet familiar, cozy and inviting! The outdoor deck seating in an early Fall evening was glorious!
Simple ingredients prepared to perfection! Such a culinary delight! I am gluten free and had one of the best meals I’ve ever had! The staff were kind, professional and attentive.

The food is incredible but their hospitality when you question the portion is beyond my expectations. They remade my amazing brunch bowl and gave us a coffee card for next time for the wait. Seems like today they are dealing with 2 coffee grinders down during a busy Saturday brunch time. Thank you to this small business for keeping their head up during a hard day and also keeping customers happy. The food here is insane yummy
