This place has been in business for almost 80 years! The place to go for your seafood. The shrimp is unbelievably good and meaty. Staff was above and beyond. The place is cute and clean. But hey, take out ONLY. And we did get our military discount. Definitely a must try.

This place offers a limited menu of fried seafood.
We got the fried shrimp, perched burger, chicken burger, calamari, and chowder.
I highly recommend the chowder. We also got coleslaw side.
There is no seat inside only outside. But the outside seating is below trees and there is chances that the dried fruits will fall on your head like it did in ours. Be careful.

Have heard about this place for years, finally got to try it! The food was so good! Got a little bit of everything to are what we’d like. Lake perch was by far my favorite! Also liked that they had clams! My hubby really liked the double beaded shrimp! Can’t wait to try something else there!

What a great memory! Stopped in after over 40 years the place has been very well cared for! The gulf shrimp was as good as years ago! Definitely as good as what you get in the gulf!! Was a wonderful treat while visiting the area!

Overall I’m comparing this food to other establishments and my personal cooking and I wasn’t impressed with it. We actually passed this restaurant while traveling to Joliet and decided to give it a try and it wasn’t a good choice. The customer service was good and the environment was good but the food is where they didn’t meet expectations. It definitely lacked flavor and I don’t even think it was fully cooked. We got the catfish filets and fries and we ended up wasting about half of it. I gave the food three stars because of the quality of the fries the fish was a one or two star. No I don’t plan to go back to give it another try and if we weren’t driving and eating I would’ve just asked for a meal replacement.

I have worked in Hobart for 20 years and always seen this place but never tried it, but today I decided 2 try for the 1st time and I’m glad I did I got the 1lb double breaded shrimp and 1/2 Cod. Everything was cooked perfectly, the staff acknowledged me as soon as I walked in the door ( which is rare in some places ) and the restaurant was nice and clean… I will definitely be back!!!

Today My Mother isn’t Feeling Well So I called Johnson’s Fish & Shrimp to Inquire if They had any of Their Extremely Delicious New England Clam Chowder available, I had Mentioned when I Called that My Mother wasn’t Feeling Well. When I Arrived to pick up Our Delicious Soups, The 2 Amazing Ladies Working had Written a Personalized Message for My Mother, When I Showed My Mother, She Immediately Smiled I Really Would like to Thank the Two Lovely Ladies Who Made My Mother’s Day. I frequent Johnson Fish & Shrimp whenever I am in the vicinity typically for Lunch. I decided to stop pick up dinner. I ordered 1lbs of Cod. 1/2lbs of smelt. I noticed it was a different crew compared to lunch staff. I was extremely disappointed. Instead of 1/2 of smelt. I didn’t notice until I was serving dinner. They gave me clam strips vs smelt. I also noticed the amount actually food received. I weighed it on my food prep scale and instead of 1/2lbs of clams it weighed only 1/4lb and 1/3 of that order were small breading crumbs that had no clam in it; just breading. I then decided to weigh the cod and it was missing about 1/4lbs and weighed 13oz. Not sure if I will go back. Being fleeced like that leaves a VERY BAD TASTE and lack of trust!
