Johnson Barbeque is a Plant City tradition – a neighborhood restaurant that serves classic southern dishes – Pit Barbeque, Steak Specials, Real-Deal Sandwiches, Famous BBQ Tacos, Salads, Sides, and more. Our tradition of BBQ in the Johnson family began over 60 years ago in Plant City. Elton Johnson, began slow-smoking pork shoulders out of his gas station-turned-restaurant in 1954. His legacy continues today.

Awesome experience in Plant City !!!! Was great coming back to a town I grew up in and enjoy such delicious food. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Jennie was amazing!!!!!!! When we walked in everyone greeted us with a smile. Let me also add I’ve always ordered at the drive thru and never done in. We switched it up and we had a stroller with us and when I tell u they were so kind hearted and understanding. Every server kept saying I promise we are not skipping you and that was amazing its not very many restaurants that take families before you and not explain why. We took family there for the first time and they came from Orlando and loved the ribs falling off the bone.

I love everything about this place. The food and service are 10/10 and I love the hometown atmosphere. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and have loved it all. My top favorites are the smoked turkey, bacon creamed corn (how it is so good?!), the rolls, the fried mushrooms, and THE PEACH COBBLER. We have pulled a Ron Swanson and literally ordered ALL the peach cobbler in the resturant for our large family before. This place is worth a 2 plus hour drive for us. EAT HERE.

I ordered the combo while my wife opted for ribs. The pulled pork and turkey were decent in taste but a bit dry, so I had to use a lot of sauce from the table. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the beans and the Mac and cheese was decent but not exceptional. On the other hand, my wife loved the ribs and thought they were the best in the area. She also enjoyed both of her sides.

We found this place on Google Maps by chance as we were traveling through. We had the BBQ survey and half order onion rings. The food was phenomenal. Some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had, and the service was fantastic too!

From Vancouver Island, Canada, and we needed to stop on our way from Tampa to Orlando after a long journey to get here. This couldn’t have been a better place. What a bubbling atmosphere, with patrons having a great time and amazing food and staff so receptive to new comers. I only wish we lived closer!

We started with fried pickles which are the best. Two of us ordered Evelyn’s Zeppelin, which is a sweet potato with melted cheese and smoked brisket… YUMMY!!
