Honestly in all my 40yrs being Dominican never tasted a mangu and tres golpes that tasted this bad. I love onions but they don’t taste right AT ALL, almost urine like!!! Should’ve seen the reviews before purchasing. They gave me 1 single piece of cheese, 2 salamis, and the 2 smallest eggs in the world for $15! NO MAAM!! Driving down to WNY, Paterson or Passaic to get real good Dominican food and treatment. And the lady in the front acted like we were a nuisance to her, we are very warm people and this place did not make me or my family feel welcome. Was excited to find a place 5min from home but Never again!!!! Into the trash it goes

as someone else said, the name is misleading. this is a delicious, authentic Dominican food restaurant. prices are reasonable, and the food is so so good!!!! the cashier i had was also so sweet, spoke English and Spanish. awesome food, fair prices.
notes:
– $2 empanadas, 4 different kinds. cheese, ham&cheese, carne, pork.
– 3 kinds of moro

The name is definitely misleading, you wouldn’t guess it’s an authentic Dominican spot until you step inside. The food is amazing, truly tastes just like what you’d get in the DR.
That said, the prices are pretty steep compared to other Dominican restaurants in the area. The place itself is small with limited seating, and if you end up by the fridge, prepare to be chilly the whole time.
Even with those downsides, I’d go back for the food alone, it’s that good. I just wish the prices were a bit more reasonable for what you get.

John’s Fried Chicken is an absolute disaster. Nothing here is edible — not the chicken, not the rice, not any of the side dishes. The chicken was dry, overcooked, and greasy, tasting like it had been sitting out for hours. The rice was hard, completely not chewable, and inedible. The sides were equally terrible — bland, soggy, and clearly made with zero care. The smell alone was off-putting, and after taking a single bite, I had to throw the entire meal in the trash.
For the prices they charge, this is outrageous. There is no quality, no value, and no reason to ever return. This isn’t just disappointing — it’s insulting to anyone who expects even basic, edible food. I’ve had better meals from a gas station.
Do yourself a favor: avoid this place at all costs. Every dish is a waste of money, and the experience is pure frustration. John’s Fried Chicken isn’t a restaurant — it’s a warning to anyone thinking about risking their appetite here.

If I could give this place anything less than a 1 star – I would. The service is absolutely horrible. I called to place a delivery order & was told they don’t do delivery but their website literally has an option for that! We placed the order for pick up and upon pick up – was told that out of our 4 chicken orders – they couldn’t complete one bc they ran out of chicken! The lady never took our number down to let us know. She forgot our drinks, our side orders and everything else. When we called back to see what happened – she said she was alone and busy and that she just didn’t do it. Will never come back! So disappointed especially bc the food is delicious but the customer service needs to be better. Awful awful awful.

This is an absolutely wonderful place. Definitely try it here I tried a little bit of everything and it was worth it. The staff is extremely friendly and they’re always willing to help you. Give this new restaurant to try and you’ll definitely never turn back. Especially if you want non-greasy fried chicken

Ordered Yuuka with oxtail and a piece of chicken and cook onions . The oxtail tail had lots of fat the yuuka was cold the onions where raw. All for a whopping 35.00 with a juice that was 16.00 only. The older female was very rude

First timer . Passed by Paramus and bumped into this restaurant. Seeing the fried chicken in the name of the restaurant, went in.
They had so many options in lunch menu , but only 1 or 2 chicken items . They had a curry type chicken and I took it with white rice . Flavor was good … not spicy at all. A box with rice and curry costed about 12-13$.
I also wanted to taste fried chicken and it was sooooooooooo bad 🙁 oily and no flavor . It wasn’t fresh ! And I could squeeze oil from the food . Don’t ever buy fried chicken from this place .
Parking was good . Overall a very average experience

Great service everytime I’ve gone. Love the food. My favorite is the Chaufa rice which is so good and pictured below. The shrimp salad is perfect with white rice and some fried plantains so tasty. I’ve also tried their mangu and it really hits the spot on a Sunday morning:)
