The Johnny’s Tavern P&L is located downtown Kansas City MO in the Power & Light District. The food, service, and atmosphere had mixed results. Service was spotty at best. We had to go to the bar several times to ask for water and other food items. The staff member assigned to our table forgot to bring several food items. The atmosphere was that of a sports bar. Opportunity for improvement. My score 3.7.

Came here for the Super Bowl – we weren’t expecting the best of service, but we also weren’t expecting to barely get served at all. Emily, our server, ignored our table. We were sitting in a booth section right next to a group of guys. The guys were all able to order their drinks, their food, and be served, and close their tab and walk out before Emily even bothered taking our orders. All she had to do was walk two steps to check up on us.
She didn’t offer refill on waters, didn’t hand us silverware when our food arrived, I had to go up and grab them because she was too busy chatting with another server and a friend sitting down at the bar. The one thing she did great was tell us about Jell-O shots, but then ran away before we could even tell her we wanted any. We had to flag her down but the Jell-O shots were great!
The last thing – SHE DECIDED TO TIP HERSELF. We paid on three separate checks, and for two of us, she tapped the 20% tip herself. We didn’t notice until AFTER the card had been processed and seeing the details. For the last friend, she didn’t tip herself on his screen but he tipped her 18% anyways. We would have tipped extra since it was a busy occasion, but after seeing her pull that, we should have tipped NOTHING.
That is absolutely shady, as this was a forced tip scam. Emily’s transactions need to be reviewed, and her practice needs to stop.

Mia is AMAZING!! And all the staff. I was with the KU Lawrence Bar Band while they played outside of the T-Mobile Center for people as they arrived at the Big Slick event. Johnny’s sponsored some needed nourishment to keep the band playing! We can’t thank you enough!! Thank you Mia for helping take care of the band!! I did not get a pic of them stuffing in slices in between songs but it was perfect.

Not too bad of a place if you don’t mind paying $15 for 32 oz of beer with a $2 alcohol tax. $20 for a beer with the competition around is pretty risky. I will be spending my money elsewhere. The bartender was nice, but didn’t seem very knowledgeable on costs of beers, which gets exhausting asking how much each beer is especially when the prices were so drastically different. Feel a little ripped off for the almost refreshing one beer I consumed here. Plenty of aTv’s though…

We split the fish and chips, plus fried wontons. Both were actually good, although probably frozen and cooked to order, like most bar food. The hushpuppies were very good and surprisingly tasted homemade.
But- we ordered an ice water to go. I sipped on the water throughout the day. Later on in the afternoon, the ice melted to reveal a large chunk of “funk” floating at the bottom of the plastic cup, along with smaller particles of funk. Very very gross. Not sure about the cleanliness of this place. Thus only 3 stars.

Wanted a quick bite before the R&B concert. As soon as we walked in, we grab the first booth diagonal from the door. The ambience was popping and the service was quick considering the room was packed. Our order consisted of chips and queso quesadilla and Wilson wings amazing!!! Can’t wait to go back to food was hot and fresh

Just amazing, I know it just looks like a sports pub but it was busy both times we went. One of us being a celiac was a little worried about contamination but the communication between our server and the kitchen was impeccable. Food was great, service was fast a friendly. It is first come first serve so might have to wait depending when you arrive.

Our go to for after concerts and events at the TMobile center. The menu is great and they have great prices. We are always surprised at how quickly our food comes out. Bar and kitchen open late. Sometimes they even have UFC PPV events, which is much appreciated.

The crowd is pretty diverse. I imagine it’s related to what events are going on at the t mobile center. Tonight, the crowd is mixed. The service is good and it’s not too busy. This is a really popular spot, so it can get a little crazy around here. Bar service gets an A, and the drinks are tasty, too. The price is good. Depending on the venue, I’d come back.

Came in Tuesday after the underoath concert at the midland. It was about 1030. Took about 15 min to be greeted after sitting down. The place was pretty packed and only saw a single server on.
Ordered a cheese pizza with extra cheese. Failed to put extra cheese on it. Ordered tue 18inch but it measured only 11 inches when I asked how it didn’t compared to the normal ny style pizza johnnies is known for the waiteess explained to me that it had the same amount fo dough but the cook didn’t spread it out.
I’m sorry I come to johnnies becsuse their service and quality is considtent normally on a ny style pizza. The pizza was horrible and I likely will not be coming back to johnnies which used to be on my top 5 kc stops for a ny style pizza.
I have included the dates of a previous pizza i had at this location also on a busy night and you can see the difference in the pie. My hand was bigger than a slice and that’s unheard of at johnnies.
You can also see the pie doesn’t even fit the pań.
