Johnny’s is one of the best restaurants in Amherst. They consistently give great meals, good portions, and reasonable prices. They have excellent service and good for all occasions. I was recently there for a closed event with a custom menu. The food was marvelous! Prime rib, french onion soup, chocolate cake…simply wonderful!

The food was amazing. I had the wagyu steak and it was cooked perfectly. My date had the gnocchi and loved it too. We shared an apple tart for dessert. Everything was amazing including the presentation.

This restaurant is highly recommended!
The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, making it a great choice for family gatherings, dining with friends, or even casual business meals. The staff is warm, attentive, and accommodating to special requests, which makes the dining experience even more enjoyable.
I particularly loved the truffle fries. The portion was surprisingly large, and the crispy fries combined with the rich aroma of truffle made every bite a delight.
The portion sizes of the dishes are just right, and both the presentation and taste are impressive. For someone with a regular appetite, the meal is more than satisfying. If you order an appetizer or dessert, you’ll likely have leftovers to take home.
Overall, I really like this restaurant and would definitely come back again!

I stumbled upon this gem after my day trip to Springfield. I am very happy that I stopped in. This beautiful little Tavern is aesthetically pleasing and the food is quite good. You wouldn’t expect a tavern to push out this type of intricate cuisine but they are. You won’t be disappointed with the variety of drinks and what the bartenders can whip up and the food from the chefs. Go check this place out. It is on the pricey side for a Tavern but def worth it. Try them out.

This was our 2nd visit, this time on a Saturday evening. It was really busy, as expected, but we were still seated quickly… and lucked out getting a parking spot as we drove in. Their menu offers a good assortment of choices from appetizers to entrees and their prices seem on par with other restaurants. We were a little surprised at the cost of their cocktails that seemed to range from $14 to $17. Although we can easily afford the price, I have reached my limit on what I am willing to pay for a few ounces of liqueur, so I opted for a diet coke. The staff was wonderful and seemed to help one another with deliveries to the table, which was great to see. We will be back again sometime and do recommend it to others. It’s a mixed crowd from college aged to seniors, so it has broad appeal. It is handicapped accessable, but would be challenging to navigate a wheelchair inside due to the narrow pathways between the tables.
If you found this review helpful, please let me know by tapping the thumbs up. Thanks!

We were unexpectedly diverted to Amherst in preparation for the blizzard and searched for a place for an easy dinner after driving in. We were so impressed by Johnny’s Tavern! All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and our calamari appetizer. Sadly they were out of their tuna sandwich but we’ll have to make a trip back to try it!

Had the hanger Fried Brussels and fried eggrolls which were amazing! Fresh crispy and delicious. The had the hanger steak with mash potatoes instead on fingerling potatoes. I ordered medium but came out medium rare. Great flavor and tasty but just a lil to red. Would as for medium well next time. Other than that is super cozy and warm inside. Good service and drinks. A definitely must try.

Food, atmosphere, and decor were all so amazing. Our waitress C****** was so rude and made the experience feel like we weren’t really welcomed there without warrant. Came with younger sister since she decided on Umass, just a shame we were treated like that. Would definitely eat there again and grab a drink.

LOVE Johnny’s Tavern. The Brussels sprouts are truly the best I’ve ever had. There are so many great things on their menu that it’s hard to choose a favorite! Love the lemon gnocchi, and the short rib is divine. Save room for dessert because the sticky toffee pudding is phenomenal. They definitely get busy so be sure to make a reservation.
