Every staff member we encountered from – waiter/waitress and host – was absolutely amazing. Friendly and knew their menu. Bartender made my moscow mule perfectly. I can’t really say the same for the BBQ or the nachos. The chicken was extremely dry, and the brisket was tough. I’m not sure if we got day old BBQ, but you could tell it was not fresh or overcooked. Nachos were soggy. Maybe it was the type of cheese sauce, but it was drenched. I would come back again just to give another shot since it was extremely packed, I figure we may have come on an off day. 5 stars for the staff of this establishment!

We were seated immediately, the waitress, Haleigh, wasted no time politely taking our drink order and getting it out to us! The pork rib plate and the fried steak fingers with the loaded tater tots were delicious and the deco was so entertaining to discuss and amusing to look at! So glad we popped in after a hard day’s work! I highly recommend the warm pecan cobbler with a scoop of ice cream!

The food here is absolutely amazing. Our waitress was great. One issue I did have with the atmosphere is that it was freezing cold in there. Yes, it was during the icestorm we just had. My appetizer was soooooo good. I got the loaded waffle fries with pulled pork. I read the menu wrong, I suppose, and to add the pulled pork to the loaded waffle fries, there’s a bit of an upcharge. (which made my appetizer almost $20.00). However, there’s a lot there, and they tasted amazing. So, yes, it was somewhat worth it. I definitely recommend getting them as a meal alone. I got the 12-14oz Sirloin. It was one of the best Steaks I’ve ever had. It was cooked perfectly, medium rare, and seared on the outside just right. Another amazing perk is that they give you an entire bottle of ranch with the appetizers and, for the salad. Super duper awesome… Thank you all for your hard work and sacrifices. We appreciate you all

Just finished eating at this one folks. Same three-topper with my niece. It’s a seat yourself environment. This was our first time dining in Salado, Texas. The young lady serving us was with it! Since the pandemic… customer service has fallen. She made her rounds like clockwork AND when the sweet tea was out, she came back immediately and notified us! Many people might find this to be rather mediocre BUT I can’t count the number of times a server took it upon themselves to make a decision for me. I don’t know how other Southerners feel but if you ask for sweet tea…you kinda want sweet tea. The meat and sides selection are good. The ambiance is expected for a BBQ establishment. It seems like a lively place for events as well. Ask anyone… I’m looking for the sausage to determine the make-or-break. The casing was too tough for me and the filling could have used a smidgen more flavor. The ribs were delicious; fell right off the bone. Overall the food was good. I didn’t take a picture of my son’s plate because he’s Mr. Basic and had already dove in before I grabbed my phone. My niece’s pulled pork was good. They also have a pretty good appetizer selection. Again… you can’t beat the service and location (right off the highway). Go take a look and let me know.

Two sides to Johnny’s: the family restaurant side, and the bar side. Same food, two different atmospheres. The bar side can be quite noisy with conversation. Plan accordingly.

There were 7 of us and Rachel óur waitress took very good care of us. Excellent service. Full bar and good selection of tequila. Beer was cold. Brisket stuffed jalapeno peppers, chip and salsa were really good. Combo plates with turkey, chicken and brisket were good. Johnny’s Que Bowl with pulled pork and sausage with the trimmings over Fritos was a new way to eat BBQ for us. Added extra BBQ sauce and it was good. Chicken Fried steak was good Catfish was all you can eat and was okay. Catfish tasted good but breading a little tough. Green beans, mashed potatoes, french fries (really potatoes)for sides were all good. It was a Friday night and the place was packed with lots of locals enjoying the food and having good time

One of the best places I have eaten that in a long time. Probably the best restaurant in town. Open-air patio/bar was lively.
