Let me first say… if we could leave more stars I would. From the experience, the atmosphere and the staff, this was an awesome Date night!!!

BRITNEY AND SARAH WERE Grrreat!!!! The wife and I love a good smoked old fashioned and when I tell you they did an excellent job….. They did an excellent job. Did I say they did an excellent job?? Ok yeah….. excellent!!!!

We will most definitely be back!!! We have been trying to book for tonight so that we can come back for the second night in a row! This will start to be one of our favorite spots to come on date night!

Great job!!!

Came back for our second date night and again it was amazing!!! The food, cocktails and the atmosphere is so amazing!!!

Plus we had Sarah again !!! She is such a sweet and wonderful person!!!! She makes our time here so much better with her great personality!!!!! Jade was also awesome last night!

The wonderful attitudes of staff makes a place feel so comfortable and let me say again ……. BRITTANY, SARAH and now also JADE makes this place a 10 star in our opinion!!!!

Great job again!!!

I attended a wine tasting event with a group here, and it was a lovely networking experience that I’d highly recommend. We were all seated in their private room upstairs and were each served small pours of 4 different wines along with appetizers in a span of 2 hours. I really loved the first wine the best – an orange wine from France – Cancan Brute Nature Orange. What’s great about these events is that you can order bottles of the wine featured at great prices – my favorite was only $15. For each “round,” we were served, Johnny spoke to us about the wine, and then we chatted and enjoyed for a few minutes before the next course and wine arrived. it was a great was to spend some time with people you may not know very well, but it would also be fun with friends or family. I was very impressed with Johnny’s knowledge, and he was an engaging presenter. I loved learning about biodynamic wine, specific varietals, and the Mediterranean region, which was featured for this event. I’d make it a point to return, especially to buy wine. The food was good – I particularly remember the gruyere cheese dip and the focaccia being really good. Everything was decent but not super memorable or inventive. Just yummy basic snacks and good wine. Overall, a very nice event.

I want to give it five stars so badly but there are some disability issues they need to fix. I hope to get in contact with them to let them know some recommendations. It is possible and can have a great time but with work.

Ok to the good part. The food. The food. Is absolutely amazing. The salmon kept talking to me on the menu to the point I had to get it. Whichever salmon I ate, they are in rainbow heaven proud to have gone out in such style and grace and to be able to swim in that delicious sauce. Oh with doggy bags can you put the sauce in it? We were disappointed when we opened our doggy bags and there was no sauce. The other two dishes… O. M. G. The bread for every dish is fresh and the display and artistry is perfect for parties, dates, get together, especially if you are trying to impress for a meeting. They have very clean bathrooms but no hand rails which is one of the issues especially if someone with a disability want to go by themselves or don’t want assistance. I have to go back because there is so much to see and the display of food, experience as a whole is spectacular. Thank you Mike for walking us down and the great talk. I hope to see your artwork. I meant what I said.

It had been a while since my husband and I had patronized the Speakeasy as we normally just stop in upstairs for drinks.

We stopped in last Friday for end of the weeks drinks and ended up ordering dinner.

He ordered the Lobster bisque, which is usually my go to starter at any restaurant and upon arrival I regretted not getting it. It was tick and creamy with a decent size chunk of lobster.

I order the Shrimp & Pad Thai and he had Surf and Turf. I loved the acidity of the noodles innthe Pad Thai. I only wish it had a little more sauce as the noodles tend to soak it up.

My husband was pleased with his steak so much that he didn’t eat his lobster first, which he always does.

all the drinks are on the sweeter side for me but very good. the smoked old fashioned, manhattan, and both gin drinks were tasty. presentation was the best in royal oak.

i don’t know if we felt welcomed by the staff/owner – not sure why but maybe because we were there two hours before close? everyone was still polite.

overall, i had a good time and liked johnny’s. going again soon to also experience the food.

Very cool vibe with individual lights on each table. The service was extremely slow. We were there for 2 1/2 hours. We waited a long time for our food and when it finally arrived it was only lukewarm.

Got the Thai Street Ribs and the Gruyère Spread. Both were amazing! Our bartender Crow was a lot of fun and gave great suggestions. Would definitely come again!

We came here to celebrate my friend’s sister’s 21st birthday and planned to bring her for her first legal drink and first speakeasy experience. Unfortunately, the interaction with the staff completely ruined what was supposed to be a really special moment.

When we arrived, the host immediately accused her of being drunk and slurring her words, which was completely untrue as she had not even had a drink yet. In front of her sister and the rest of us, he then joked that “she’s not supposed to be here, we’ll break her legs.” Even if it was meant as a joke, it was incredibly inappropriate and humiliating.

Watching someone say something like that while she stood there embarrassed was honestly shocking. She ended up crying, and we left immediately. A simple “we’re reservation only tonight” would have been completely fine and we would have completely respected that.

Instead, the interaction felt mocking and unnecessarily rude. Hospitality costs nothing, and a place that prides itself on atmosphere and experience should treat guests with far more respect.

Really disappointing experience.

After watching Fox 2 Detroit one Saturday Morning, they featured Johnnys. I immediately made reservations for my husband and myself and 2 of our friends for the next month. We went on a Saturday evening around 6:30. We buzzed in with the password and walked down the stairs into a very cozy and eclectic space. Almost every table was full, as well as the bar. It was buzzing with activity, the drinks and food passing by looked wonderful. We ordered some great cocktails, a delicious Gruyère cheese and focaccia bread appetizer and enjoyed them immensely. For dinner we ordered some salads, steaks and an amazing wagyu beef wrapped in some type of pastry. For dessert we had espresso martinis and the fabulous crème brûlée. It was an incredible experience and we will definitely return. It’s not an inexpensive place, so plan accordingly.
