We had such a wonderful brunch experience at John Wright Restaurant! Our server, Jen, was top notch—so pleasant and attentive without ever being overbearing. The custom omelettes were absolutely delicious, and the best part was not having to wait in line for them. The buffet had so many tempting options, with a perfect mix of breakfast and lunch. Some of our favorites were the eggs Benedict, prime rib, waffles with chocolate chips, crispy bacon, shrimp Alfredo, and Caesar salad. Sitting out on the patio with the peaceful river view was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend!

Everything about our wedding at John Wright was perfect from start to finish! From the initial tour of the River Room, we knew that was where we wanted out big day to take place. Molly Cook (Assistant Director & Event Sales) was there to help us every step of the way. She really used her expertise and experience to help us achieve the perfect wedding day. She helped us with all the details and things we didn’t even know we needed to consider, which was so helpful when coming up with our floor layout, day-of timeline, etc.
The Bridal Suite is very spacious and was a great place to get ready. The Bridal Suite package also provided delicious wraps, coffee, iced tea, etc. which was so nice as we decorated the had our hair/makeup done.
Bernadette (Bern), John Wright’s day-of coordinator kept our day running smoothly in all aspects! She was able to help us problem solve with last minute setup aspects to make sure everything was perfect! Our outside ceremony was on a sunny 90+ degree day, and Bern brought us and the bridal party a refreshing pitcher of ice water and cups after the ceremony, before we took more photos. That extra step of care was something that really stood out, and was so appreciated!
We absolutely loved our food tasting date night a few months beforehand, and the food the day-of was spot on! All of the staff us and our guests encountered the day-of, and beforehand were kind, professional, and friendly! Almost two weeks after our wedding, our guests continue to rave about the delicious food, the beautiful venue, and the overall experience!

Located along the Susquehanna River in York, PA, John Wright Restaurant offers a beautiful blend of natural scenery and unique architecture. As a Central PA and East Coast wedding photographer who specializes in light and airy, timeless imagery, I have been here twice now and love how this venue combines refined charm with relaxed elegance.
The ceremony space, set against views of the river and bridges, is peaceful and romantic, the kind of backdrop that elevates every image. The venue’s brick exterior and inside the upstairs reception space offer character and warmth, while the large porch invites guests to mingle and soak in the view.
Sunset here is especially magical. As the sun sets behind the building, the lawn glows with soft, golden light creating a perfect, graceful setting for portraits! John Wright is a wonderful choice for couples looking for a venue that feels both unique and heartfelt. I would be thrilled to take many more wedding photos here!

Generally good food. Not quite five star but you won’t be disappointed. Great atmosphere in an old silk factory along the Susquehanna river. Also an event venue.

Always have a great experience here. Very well prepared meals and attention to allergies. Several gluten free options which is something i always require. Also took my mother here for the prime rib brunch one time and had a short pleasant conversation with the chef who was working a table with the rest of the staff. really adds to the trust of someone preparing your food.

I love when I have the excuse to go to John Wright! My favorite time to go is brunch, with cheap mimosas and a delicious buffet with prime rib, you can’t go wrong. A group of us took a girls’ trip recently and we did dinner outside, and the views are stunning. They make all of their pasta in house, and it’s delicious!

Four for dinner, each had a different entree and everyone’s food was too salty, not “this is real good, but a little saltier than I like”, rather “this is real salty, I think I’ve had enough.”
Desserts were good.
Had a table by the window, always a good option and there was a wedding on the riverbank outside, so that was a pleasant conversation-starter

this is one of our area’s upscale restaurants. There is no real dress code that I am aware of. I have gone in sweatshirt and jeans and felt a little under dressed. Food is always excellent and the drinks are made well too. Rarely do i have room for dessert but the ones i have had were fantastic. There is a small artisans shop in the lobby area you can browse before or after dinner. Over all great date night location. they have a covered heated patio with an excellent view of the Susquehanna river and the bridge.

The atmosphere was pleasant, and the view of the bridge was beautiful. However, I did not enjoy the food. The portions were large, but the taste was disappointing. The octopus was completely overpowered by an excessive amount of garlic, which made it impossible to taste the octopus itself. Unfortunately, I ended up with stomach pain for the entire evening, night, and next morning because of all that garlic. I would not recommend this place.
