Delicious meal served at a good speed. Everything was hot and fresh and tasty! Friendly service and easy on street parking. Some of the best home fries I have ever had!

Last day before work gets crazy for me. Decided to stay local and go to Johana’s. They have expanded the inside to fit more people. They have the outside patio that would be nice when the weather warms up. Plenty of free parking, located on the New Milford Green. Even on a Sunday there was no wait. It was crowded but there was still seating. The staff was all polite and attentive. Great menu choices at a good price. I got the Torta de Huevo. Everything I love in an omelette, including a little spicy sausage. Deliciously seasoned home fries. I sampled a little of my fiancé’s blueberry pancakes. I’m not a huge fan of blueberries, but these pancakes were made from scratch with fresh ingredients. A definite winner. Another bonus is how you pay. There is a QR code right on the receipt. No need to wait for the waitress to come back. You pay right at the table, leave a generous tip, and walk out. Definitely give Joanna’s a try if you have not been there.

Old fashioned diner with a very pleasant staff, and delicious food. The black coffee was outstanding as well. My wife had a western omelette and I had three eggs , ham and potatoes in a hot skillet.

Their stuffed french toast almost had more fruit and “stuffing” than actual french toast! It is amazing! Best breakfast choice you could make!

Great service. Food is very good and nice size portions. Always have leave a ton of food on my plate because its so much food. Prices are very reasonable. Waitstaff is very friendly. Only small complaint I have is the temperature in the restaurant. Its always on the warm side

If you’re in the center of town in need of a meal, check out Johana’s—especially on a Saturday after your local yoga class.

The atmosphere felt warm in the classic diner sense, but the decor and lack of internal upgrades left a lot to be desired. Still, the service was good and the food came out almost immediately.

For my breakfast, I “built my own” omelette with mushrooms, cheddar cheese and peppers. The omelette came with home fries and I subbed my toast for a side of bacon instead.

I can only describe my omelette as a “fat boy” (LOL!)—it was perfectly stuffed and a great sized portion for the price.

To me, the home fries left a little to be desired. The seemed to be sprinkled with paprika, but overall lacked flavor. Both the home fries and the potatoes were a bit greasy, but to be honest, I’m just being particular here. I really did have a great, solid breakfast.

As a final note, while I appreciate the efficacy of using an app or QR code to pay, the technology didn’t seem to match the heart of the restaurant. Scanning the receipt was a bit of a nuisance and seemed to take longer than having a server take payment.

Regardless of its “flaws,” I can see Joanna’s being one my go-to places in town for a nice hot breakfast. Check it out.

This is one of our go-to spots for breakfast or lunch! The menu is fantastic, with many unique options. I recently learned that they make their own bread, too! The servers are friendly and the owners are a hard-working, wonderful family. If you enjoy good food in a casual, friendly setting, Johanna’s is a great choice!

So, this place overcharged me on tax

In Connecticut, the standard sales tax rate for restaurant meals is **6.35%**. If a restaurant charges **7.35%**, it would be above the legal sales tax rate, which could be considered an overcharge or “ripping off” the customer.

Restaurants are not allowed to impose a higher sales tax than what is mandated by the state unless they are specifically permitted to charge additional local taxes (which typically would not apply to sales tax on meals). If a restaurant is charging a higher rate, they should clearly communicate the reason (for example, additional service fees or surcharges unrelated to sales tax), but it should not be represented as sales tax.

If you encounter this situation, it would be prudent to ask the restaurant for clarification regarding the charge.

I eat at Johannes restaurant at least two to three times a week. Chris is a wonderful waitress. Always on top of things. The food is all made by hand. They have wonderful fresh-made bread and soups of the day. I highly recommend this great little diner. I’ve ordered just about everything on the menu and have enjoyed it all. They close at 2 p.m.
