Expensive!! Costly and small serving sizes.
The food is nothing like real chicago deep dish, but not bad. Glad I tried it, but can’t recommend due to price and portion size. Not worth the price. Real Chicago pizza is Giordano’s. My wife thought the pasta tasted like olive garden.

Since Fresca Pizza closed Sep 2025 and Dannie’s was stingy on ingredients last Aug 2025.
My new favorite pizza Sep 27, 2025 with thin crust and sweet savory sauce is “Joey D’s on W. Manatee in Bradenton.
I picked the “Ronnie D’s Favorite” it came with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and green peppers, I added jalapeños… The secret in my humble opinion is the crumbled sausage along with the fresh toppings. Sliced sausage should not be on pizza, that’s what pepperoni is for. Again, Fantastic pizza, cut horizontal and vertical, plenty of square pieces with lots of cheese and toppings creating cheesy crescent saucy shapes on corners:-)
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a tough critic, a few years ago. I dined in and they ran out of mushrooms and would bring them in from local grocer, we left… I still make sure they have mushrooms before I commit:-)

I had family in from the Midwest and it was actually on a bears day when they were playing football, so there were screens all over the restaurant, had multiple football games on, the atmosphere was awesome. The food was one of the biggest pizzas I’ve ever seen we ordered a large pepperoni and it was layered with several layers of pepperoni, cheese, pepperoni, cheese, pepperoni, cheese, and a heavy amount of sauce. The waitress that we had was absolutely top-notch checking on our needs every few minutes refilling our drinks a couple times and making us feel very comfortable. Excellent service. I would recommend this pizzeria to anybody and bring your appetite because the pizzas are huge they bring a tray out and put the pizza on a tray on your booth or table. We went at a very busy time and had no idea. But even with that, it was a great experience. I give them five stars all around some of the best pizza I’ve ever had, Chicago style thick and it is thick. I could only eat about two pieces and I was stuffed and for a big man that is saying a lot. The atmosphere is really great, we asked the waitress to take pictures and she did and gave us such great service. I wish I could remember her name. I’m sure she is a staple of this location. Excellent excellent excellent server and host they make you feel so comfortable and welcome. Five stars all the way around.

We’re from IL so this felt like home away from home. We were traveling through and saw the building and thought hey let’s try that its lunch time. We ordered 1 Medium Deep Dish,,1 Large thin crust, garlic knots, Motz. Sticks and Loaded tots for 8 people. Deep dish was great, thin crust was great apps were great and we had left overs for lunch the next day. Waitresses were attentive and really nice.

I really wanted to like this place, but the food quality was disappointing. The chicken and chicken tenders had a strong frozen/old freezer taste, and the pizza itself reminded me of cafeteria or school pizza. The cheese didn’t properly melt or attach to the sauce and had that processed smell and texture.
Overall, everything tasted reheated and low quality rather than fresh. It wasn’t inedible, but it definitely wasn’t enjoyable, especially for a pizza place. I hope they improve their ingredients or food handling, because this could be much better.

As someone who grew up in Chicago and have been there more times than I can count; I am BEYOND impressed. We tried the deep dish and Italian beef and they were spot on. Roger’s excellent service made the experience even better. If you’re from Chicago and missing home or just want some Chicago style things, absolutely try it out!

Went into this restaurant with my family for dinner I asked if my son could eat his plain cheeseburger I bought him for dinner the girl that was in front was so rude to quickly tell us no we couldn’t eat it inside but we could sit outside with it…we were regulars there but nope no more!! I’d rather drive the extra miles for great Service at JOEY DS IN PALMETTO our server here was superb! Thank you Mya!!! My husband company will not return to Bradenton location as well.
