From the open door greeting, to the final service this place is Fantastic! The Restaurant is very clean and inviting, all of the Servers are very polite and welcoming. The food is… Wow,! We’ve eaten here a few times. The Pizzas are very tasty as well as big, (no skimping on the toppings), the Chicken Parm is so tender and yummy, the pasta v cooked to perfection, and the sauce is authentic. I also love the the Chicken Cauchofini is outta this world! Lots of chicken, artichoke hearts, mushrooms with a white wine Alfredo sauce. I usually just have water, and the prices are very affordable. Be prepared to take half your meal home, Yes! There’s that much. Olive Garden don’t have anything on this place.

The service here was honestly great. They opened the door for us, let us choose our table, and were very friendly (maybe even a little too friendly). The food came out quickly, which was a plus.

The food itself was just okay. I ordered the spaghetti. It looked nice, but it tasted bland, and the meatballs were strangely spongy. I pressed one down with my utensil and it bounced right back into shape. The menu had a lot of choices. However, there was no dessert section or menu –just a fridge with cakes to pick from.

Joe’s Italian Restaurant in DeRidder, LA, is a welcome addition to the local dining scene, located at 1029 N Pine St in the spot that used to be Gilbert’s Pizza. This family-friendly spot delivers solid, hearty Italian-American classics with generous portions and friendly service that make it feel like a neighborhood staple.

We started with the calamari appetizer, which arrived fresh, lightly breaded, and not overdone—paired nicely with a side of marinara for dipping. The complimentary hot Italian rolls (or garlic knots in some visits) are a nice touch; they’re soft, warm, and come out quickly with meals.

For mains, the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo stands out—the sauce is rich, creamy, and well-balanced without being overly heavy, with tender chicken and perfectly cooked pasta. Portions are large enough that many people take home leftovers. The shrimp pasta dishes get consistent praise for flavorful seafood and sauce that clings well to the noodles. Pizza lovers will appreciate the NY-style pies (hand-tossed with plenty of cheese and customizable toppings like grilled chicken), which come out hot and satisfying—great for sharing or a casual meal.

Service is quick and welcoming, even when busy. Staff greets you with smiles, checks in appropriately, and handles crowds efficiently. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable—think cozy booths, Italian background music, and a relaxed vibe perfect for a quick lunch, family dinner, or date night.

Prices are reasonable for the portion sizes and quality, offering good value in a smaller town like DeRidder. It’s not ultra-authentic fine dining, but it hits the spot for comforting Italian favorites done right.

Overall, 4.5 out of 5 stars. We’ll definitely be back to try the lasagna or eggplant parmesan next time. If you’re in the area craving pizza, pasta, or a solid Italian meal, Joe’s Italian DeRidder is worth stopping in!

Was not impressed by anything like the other reviews led to think we would be.

First time here so we tried multiple different dishes. Calamari, combo trio, stromboli, lobster ravioli and our youngest had the chicken Alfredo fettuccine.

Calamari was decent, the price was high for the 10 pieces we got. The price on the menu and the price on our reciept were different. Our reciept price was higher.

My husband enjoyed the stromboli, it was huge. But the menu price and receipt price was 2 different prices, receipt was higher than posted.

Trio with the lasagna and maniccota was awful. You could not taste anything other than tomato sauace. I took one bite. And once again, menu price was less than our reciept.

The lobster ravioli was delicious. The cream sauce was fantastic. But once again, charged more than the menu showed.

Lastly, kids fettuccine. Cream sauce was good but charged again more than the menu had it listed at. Our child did not like all the pepper in the sauce so he didnt touch it. We tasted the sauce because he said it had a lot of pepper. Not kid friendly alfredo on kids menu.

Won’t be back.

If you enjoy Italian food…you are going to love this place….authentic Italian recipes served…everything fresh and homemade. I had the lobster ravioli served with a rich, creamy sauce, topped with shrimp…was absolutely delicious!! I highly recommend and would definitely get this again! Great service, everyone was extremely friendly and very accommodating. ~ I’d say DeRidder is very lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber!!

This place was recommended by a neighbor friend, and we were not disappointed. Lakin and Era took great care of us today, very friendly and attentive. The portions were generous for a decent price. Hubby said the calamari was a little over cooked, but it still had great flavor. Everything else tasted great too. All that in a nice, clean atmosphere. Definitely glad we tried them.

Everything was great. I highly recommend the fra diavolo it is the perfect slight spicy from the red pepper and will 100% get again. We also had the focaccia and I was a bit hesitant with the tomato slices on it but they were soo good light and fluffy and the tomatoes went really well on it

food is super greasy and everything is over priced, hated their mussled angle hair with marinara it had a hard sandy texture all throughout the dish, and i love mussles that shit was horirble. the manager who seems like look italin charged different plates on the tab that i did not eat, i paid $52 and left
wont never go again

First off the staff at Joe’s are wonderful. They are very nice, helpful, and most importantly caring. You can tell that they care about their business. This is reflected in the food. I got the chicken Marsala and it was delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection! Overall, this is a must have if you’re in Deridder.

Staff were very pleasant, fast service and accommodating. Restraunt and restroom were nice and clean. We ordered chicken fettuccine Alfredo, seafood combo #2, and chicken amd shrimp Tiana. All we’re tasty. Salads were crispy and fresh. I prefer a thicker Alfredo sauce so it sticks to the noodle better and bit of a richer flavor. It wasn’t my favorite Alfredo but decent. Garlic rolls were very yummy. Tiramsu is absolutely delicious (ordered to go), All in all very nice italian place and a great addition to deridder.
