This place is not for the faint of heart. This is an adults only type of place. I can say everything went very well but it’s only because I have an open mind. We had 6 adults and 5 kids, who were 10 and 11. At 730 on a Friday night after a soccer game this place was more like a club than a restaurant. The DJ was playing explicit rap and hip hop and everyone was dancing and twerking. We were seated immediately which didn’t give us much time to think about the atmosphere being too much for the kids. The margarita flight was great and the rest of the food was good except for the bacon wrapped shrimp which they removed from the bill. The service was excellent. They start patting down and carding at 8pm. I was begging for the bill at 830 with the kids. They just need to let people know before they sit them this place is not for kids.

Usually when I come to town, JJ’s on Hacks is great time. This time Feb. 2026, was not so great. We made a reservation for 12 people as their system allowed us to do so, but when we arrive the wait staff is completely lost on what to do. The manager did everything but manage the situation, he yelled at me that I need to understand that they are just too busy! My question was why do you have a system in place to accept reservations that you can’t accommodate? He called security on me and my family. Get this guy out of here please! This is a disgusting display of hospitality. We left. Went across the street to Happy Mexican, and were treated like respectful paying customers!

Food was delicious and waitress was nice. Drinks were delicious with a cute flower. They also have happy hour during the week with $3 cocktails. The loaded shrimp and beef fries are good and huge! The fried tacos were fire a must try!!!

This my third time here the first two times was great. Today was a total disappointment. I got the catfish plate….. First they need to change their cooking oil , second it’s not catfish (swai), third the plantains were undercooked and very oily, fourth the rice looked like it was from yesterday. The only thing that was good was my drink. So will not be returning for food anymore DRINKS ONLY……

I love this place❤️❤️❤️. My waiter was the BEST, EVER. Make sure you see the best waiter and bartender there is. He was so patient and he was great with the recommendations. He was not in a rush. I really enjoyed him today. I will be asking for EVER for now on. You will not be disappointed.

This review is based on 2 times so it won’t discard the very two visits but this time today July 24 we went in and they said I considered the bar area cause I had my son 13 so she said right there she was like yeah I said can y’all change the channel said some in Spanish and other ladies like no, we can’t change the TV and I asked her why not she said in Spanish something to the other lady and the other lady said someone stole the remote so we sat there the whole time watching Nickelodeon and some guy come over while me and my son had our food? He dressed in regular clothes I didn’t know who he was. I’m like who are you? He was like dress like this. I work here. I say OK but who are you? What do you do? He’s like oh I dress like this when it’s not busy conservative when it’s busy I dress up is more friendly. I said it is nice but what do you do you like I’m the manager, Jose he was amazing I said the first thing you need to do is get a new remote so we can change his TV because we’ve been watching Nickelodeon since we get here. He said we got a remote with a light at the front door when we sit down y’all have one somebody stole it when I tell you I was so pissed. I snitched so quick on her cause I’m trying to watch sports wherever I go.

I want to preface this by saying the food was delicious and the service was top-tier. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind; our waitress was especially wonderful and seemed to go out of her way because she could tell how uncomfortable we were.
However, the weekend atmosphere is entirely inappropriate for families. They had a DJ playing music filled with constant profanity and saying extremely bad words himself and shouting about “taking shots” over the mic. ( This was before 6 pm on a Friday) While the staff were kind enough to turn the volume down when I asked, the “party” vibe made it impossible to enjoy a meal or even have a conversation.
We were lucky our baby is under a year old—if she were old enough to understand the language, we would have walked out immediately. It’s such a shame because we would love to be regulars for the food and service alone, but we won’t be returning with our family during the weekend.

I had a Tropical Birthday reserved May 25,2024 for 25 people. I must say the set up was really beautiful. Arreanna was our waitress she was very awesome with her service. The food and drinks was on point. I had a great time at J J Tropical. The owner , the workers, and the DJ was all great people. J J Tropical is a vibe i recommend to through your event party there they are well organized. I had fun and I thank yall for the great time I will be back.
