While the landmark Main Line restaurant Yangming is getting ready to close its doors for good on February 2, a new eatery, Jin Ding, is already preparing to take its place, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Yangming’s Managing partner Michael Wei said that he and his partners have made a deal to sell the place to the group that owns the critically acclaimed China Gourmet restaurant in Philadelphia.
According to Salina Ko, who is a partner in the business with her husband, chef Ming Fung, the new restaurant will specialize in dim sum and will also have live seafood. The new eatery will open in August after some changes are made to the kitchen.

All you can eat dimsum on Saturdays and Sundays 11a – 1p. Less than $20 a person; we ended up at $25 all in pp with tax and tip. You cannot beat it. Service was great, although the dimsum itself is self-serve (you go to the steamer cart instead of the steamer cart coming to you). Food was very good quality for the price, you will be very happy, and they have authentic dimsum dishes like chicken feet, duck egg congee, stewed tripe, etc. They even have a full buffet table of stir fried, fried, and baked dimsum items. Highly recommended.
PS – show up at 10:55am if you want to guarantee yourself a seat, or call ahead and make a reservation.

We saw some poster that advertised about Dim Sum restaurant and we wanted to give it a try, and we were not disappointed. It looks like the current China Gourmet owners have taken over the old Yangming restaurant and have elevated the authenticity of Cantonese dishes to a much higher level than before. The various Dim Sum dishes that we ordered were about the same quality and prices as its sister restaurant (China Gourmet) in North East Philly. The decor, furniture, tableware and overall atmosphere are pretty much as nice as before but far more upscale than other Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. Moreover, the server was extremely helpful and attentive. Overall, it’s definitely a better alternative of going to downtown Philly and paying for parking. We would love to check out the All-you-can-eat weekend offers when we are craving for some delicious tasty Dim Sum dishes.

It was such a pleasant surprise to discover this hidden gem in PA. As we drove by, the elegant architecture and beautiful front entrance immediately caught our eye. Inside, the space is impressively large and airy, with tables dressed in triple-layered cloths and fine U.S.-made china—every detail feels refined and classy.
We started with the seafood tofu soup, served with a touch of red vinegar, and I must say—it’s the best soup I’ve had in the U.S. The stuffed eggplant was equally outstanding: perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, a rare treat to find as part of a dim sum menu.
We got to know the restaurant has been running for more than 30 years. Will definitely come back more! Highly recommend!

I’ve given them multiple chances, and they always fail. Tonight will be my last time ordering. I understand the cost of food has gone up but at $18.95 for General Tso’s Chicken I expect chicken. Instead it is a fatty, mystery looking piece of meat smaller than a finger nail covered in a dough mixture to look like chicken. It’s like biting into a raw, mushy, tasteless mess. The fried rice was tasteless with hunks of egg, and the beef dish tasted spoiled.

My group and I had an amazing time here! The food was plentiful, extremely tasty, and very reasonably priced. Our server James went out of his way to make sure we were all happy and took care of everything we needed. I would absolutely come back here again.
Thank you again James!

Amazing dining experience, the food was amazing, from the scallion pancakes, the steamed pork buns, and the Gunpowder Chicke. Everything was amazing. It was a little busy at the time, so service was sometimes slow. I’m definitely coming back again. Everything was also reasonably priced as well.

This is one of the cleanest Chinese restaurants I’ve ever dined in at.
The staff is very friendly and attentive, but at times, it could be slightly overwhelming.
The main thing that I enjoyed about the food was the cleanliness, quality, and lack of saltiness that is usually associated with Chinese cuisine.
However, I do feel that the food could have had a little more flavor.
When I ate the food, I thought, “This is good”
But when I try to look for a new restaurant to call home, I want to think, “OMG! This is delicious! Yo yo yo, try this one!”
I didn’t get that feel from the food here, but it is good enough to warrant a return.
I do plan on coming back for another meal, as overall, I enjoyed my first experience at Jin Ding.
The desserts were also good, flavorful, and not too sweet.
