I lived in Blairsville since 2015 and this was the best BBQ ever. Im not a pork fan so for me it was brisket. And I always got the Brunswick stew as a side. It was all delicious. I know new owners took over but it was still the same and soooo good. I moved away for 3 years and just moved back and couldn’t wait for some Smoking Q. So I popped in for a to go order and that where my past experiences were crushed. It was busy, about 4:45ish. A group of new comers where talking to employee and told to wait for the next table. But then the order taker walked off to talk to other staff like I wasn’t even standing there. After a few minutes of that I finally walked up to her and asked if I could place a to go order. I ordered my favorite, brisket plate with Brunswick stew and gouda grits. It was $19 and some change.
I got home so excited to dig in and the brisket is sliced, not shredded like it used to be. Ok, I shredded it easily enough and it was tasty but dry. I didn’t get any sauce because I never used to use it. Whatever I have my own sauce. The grits were amazing and definitely the most enjoyable. But the Brunswick stew was horrible looked like ketchup with maybe 20 pieces of corn and a little meat in it. It was so sweet I felt like I needed something salted to eat afterwards. I am so heartbroken and disappointed after being so excited to go back there that I don’t know that I’ll be back. When I lived here before it was a every other week thing. I want to go back to try something different but for the money for 1 meal, I’m just not sure with how bad my total experience was. My rating on this experience is a big fat

Our first time eating here. I had the smoked chicken, with Mac and cheese. My wife had brisket with baked beans and fries. The smoked chicken was outstanding, as was the brisket. The only thing for us was the baked beans were a little too sweet for our taste, but I know a lot of people like them that way. Decor is fun and the service was stellar. Lots of friendly people work here and it seemed like the lunch crowd was a mix of locals and folks like us enjoying a weekend in the Georgia mountains. Lastly the bonus was having a a really great meal without having to drive into the busy downtown Blairsville area, during the fall season.
I would definitely stop and eat here again and would recommend stopping here if you’re in the area.

Can’t wait to come back. We was going to Vogel State Park. Forgot that it was Saturday. Park was completely full. I saw this place on the way there so we got to stop by there And I’m glad we did absolutely hands down the best smoked turkey I’ve ever had. My wife had ribs. She loved them. The green beans were perfectly flavored and we’re going to go back and try everything else on the menu. I know where we’re getting our Thanksgiving this year from ❤️, another cool thing is my cardiologist is up there in blairsville so that gives me even more chances to come visit this awesome restaurant. Keep up the good work. A loyal customer from now on

We had high hopes, the reviews for Jim‘s Smokin Que were great. The atmosphere in this cute place is nice, there were loads of people while we were there around 11am, right after opening. Unfortunately the food experience was very disappointing: the pulled pork was bone dry, had no absolutely no seasoning and was almost cold. The chicken wings were bone dry as well, tasteless to eat. A bit better were the ribs… at least they were soft and tender, fell right off the bones. But they were only lightly seasoned, at least better than the other food. The best part of the food were the sides (Mac’n’cheese, collard greens, coleslaw) – perfectly seasoned and delicious. We won’t come back any time soon.

So let me preface this by saying I’m not an expert in BBQ however, I do have a lot of experience dealing with the “best”. My past reviews include, Joes from Kansas City, The Shed from Mississippi, Big Bob Gibson’s in Alabama along with another place that won awards, Blacks in Texas where BBQ began, other Texas places that said they were the best, 4 Rivers Smokehouse from the original location that was ranked 4th in the nation in Florida, bbq in Chattanooga and tons of other places which were ranked nationally and locally. Please read my other reviews.

So we came here after helping someone that was stuck at long creek hike.

So I found this place and asked my wife to go here. To my surprise, Jim’s Smokin Que has won numerous awards.

So we pulled up and the place was already humming. Cool shows the place is good in the middle of nowhere.

We walked in and met Jolie. Very nice girl. Bubbly personality. She talked us into the chicken sausage which is her favorite. We also got 3 other meats of ribs, pulled pork and brisket.

Jolie said the ribs are award winning and the pork and brisket are people’s favorites. She also said the macaroni salad is also award winning and is different from a classic macaroni salad. Beans were very good as well as the collard greens. She then offered to give us samples of whatever we want. She gave us a sample of the collard greens which won my wife over.

We then ordered the 4 meats with 2 sides. We got the ribs, brisket, pork and chicken sausage and got beans, collard greens and macaroni salad which we paid extra for.

We then got our food. So here is where once you say you’re award winning or something is the best where the feet hit the pavement. If this was a normal place and didn’t have numerous articles about award winning I would give this place an overall 5 star but a 4.5 overall. However, due to it needing to be judged by their awards I have to be fair.

The ribs were very good. Thick, 3 ribs, tasty and sweet. The pork was good, tasty but ran a little dry. The brisket was good however, again a little dry. The chicken sausage was good. Reminded me of like a Chicago sausage with the peppers and onions. The pork and brisket weren’t dry where I needed water to drink after but wasn’t moist as it should have been.

The beans were really good. Sweet with pork and delicious. The collard greens were good. My wife loved them. The macaroni was my wife’s favorite thing. The bbq sauces are homemade and thick. Very good.

We then got to go another order of macaroni and the peanut butter chocolate pie. The chocolate pie was good. Very sweet. Not really a pie. More of a pudding.

Overall, for it being an award winner, I think the pork and brisket lost points. Still very good overall. 4.25 I’d give it.

So this bar b q place is unbelievably good, located out in the hills of Blairsville, it is not a huge restaurant, it is a walk in and order and within 11 minutes we had a full rack of ribs ( that we split with no up charge ) side of French fries and Brunswick stew. Sweet tea and a water AND both my husband and I each had a dessert peanut butter pie and banana pudding I believe the bill was around 50.00. now being from Macon where Finchers and Fresh air RULE….hands down this place was freaking AWESOME…. Business is very busy on Sundays, so get there early they close at 8:00, which is typical, around these part please read the tipping policy….oh and there sweet tea is cold and sweet

Stumbled upon this place while driving through the area and “oh boy” what a great find. I’m not a foodie and don’t eat brisket — but the young friendly host suggested it. Got it to go and just wow… best sandwich (BRISKET) ever! Made my soul happy. Been back a few times and enjoy their food, environment. It’s R.E.A.L. slow cooked, always fresh —brisket, chicken, ribs, pork, etc, that will not disappoint and the veggies are yummy. If you are anywhere within striking distance around Blairsville, Hotlana area; Jim’s Smokin’ Que is worth the drive!

Check them out on line and head on over… chop, chop!

Come hungry and leave happy!!

Robert and I are true BBQ connoisseurs (and picky ones at that!). Robert has a huge smoker at home, and his is hard to beat — but Jim’s Smokin’ Que comes awfully close! The BBQ is fantastic, and the banana pudding is even better than my mama’s (and that’s saying something!). Always worth the trip to Blairsville.

I had Jim’s cater my small wedding of 35 and they went above and beyond to accommodate. From the very start, Melinda was super friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive throughout the entire process. Not only was the food delicious (brisket, pulled chicken, collards, mac-n-cheese, cornbread), the food was delivered on time, hot, and set up with care. Melinda even left abundant to-go boxes, which were not even a consideration for me. I highly recommend Jim’s as a catering service, for the delicious food, and equally as important, for the customer service!
