Jimmy’s Round-Up is everything good about how cafe or diner should be. We’ve been doing this for 27 years strong, and continue to grow year over year. We have many customers each week drive 100+ miles or more, even several out of state each week come to Oklahoma City, just to try Jimmy’s Round-Up. Everything we make is hand-breaded and made from scratch daily. If you want frozen, pre-made food, go somewhere else! Jimmy specializes in chicken fried steak, fried catfish, chicken strips, chicken and dumplings, ribs and don’t forget our meatloaf we sell by the panfuls daily! Of course we pair our entrees with sides like real mashed potatoes and fresh cut fries.

We’re visiting from Los Angeles and I thought we did southern food pretty good but boy was I wrong! Jimmy immediately greeted us at the door with his kind words. Our server (I wish I got her name) was the sweetest soul and gave us the best recommendations. I got the chicken fried steak, loaded mashed potatoes and corn. Considering how big the portions are you would not expect the quality to be that incredible. Jimmy brought out the catfish for us to try and it was great as expected and the house made tartar sauce + pickles were my favorite. Also Texas Road House has absolutely nothing on their rolls!! Genuine 10/10 experience and the perfect way to end our trip.

First timer at Jimmys, and I will DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!!! The food was soooo delicious and the portions were huge! The service was also amazing. Jimmy and our server were so kind to us – even brought us some cajun cat fish to try, which was delicious. We ordered the country fried steak, baked potato, green beans, and corn (pictured here). All of which was so good!!!! Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

I walked in and was seated. Server was very polite. The staff were all super nice. I was checked on and never had an empty cup. Thank you guys so much for such a great meal. I even had leftovers. The chicken fried steak is absolutely amazingly huge. Come take a bite.

While there are already very famous staples like chicken steak and sweet rolls in a generous amount, I had an entire different culinary discovery. The hash browns were delectable,golden crispy outside, soft and warm on the other side still maintaining the structure of grated potatoes, yum. And when I couldn’t fit anything anymore in my belly, then came the final boss, the Pancakes: thoroughly cooked, warm and caramel brown,moderately sweet with a perfect spongy texture, I dare say best pancakes I’ve ever eaten, period.
On another note service was nice and friendly, fast delivery and cups always full. Thank you, I had a pleasure experiencing this place!

First timers and we were not disappointed. Our server, Virginia, was so attentive and speedy. Between her and the other servers, we never saw the bottom of our coffee cups as they offered warm ups every 5-7 minutes. There was a short wait to be seated but it was worth it. Upon being seated, we were provided complimentary warm rolls and cinnamon butter. The meal portions were massive (we ordered the biscuit debris). The potatoes were cooked crispy (we tried both the hash browns and home fries, both excellent). We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and will definitely be back to try more breakfast items and the dinner specials. One special quality we found was the generational and cultural diversity of both patrons and staff. Jimmy’s is a melting pot of friendly faces, happy chatter, and full bellies.

On our first visit Jimmy’s was very busy very tight fit tables. Service was speedy and average. On our second visit it was more relaxed. Service was speedy and more friendly. On both visits the food was good. Loved the fried chicken on our first visit. The French toast on our second one was very good too. Let’s not forget the bread or biscuits and gravy…very good! Cindy was great and attentive.

I grew up LOVING chicken fried steak! (Gimme a sec and I’ll tell you why my pic is of fried catfish. )
Nowadays I only let myself eat CFS once or twice a year. Last year, I had my husband drive me 2 HOURS to Strawn, TX for CFS for our anniversary. (Yep, I dig local eats and family restaurants over fancy dinner spots.) According to several “lists”, that place was THE #1 chicken fried steak in TX. NOPE. Service was great, but that TX spot’s CFS was nothing to write home about or return for.
BUUUUT THIS PLACE!!!
We were in town for a concert and I saw the 6K+ reviews. I’m also a sucker for fluffy yeast rolls I saw in the review pics, so I thought we’d give it my 2026 CFS tryout.
Y’all, I’m not saying this just to be kind. Seriously. The reviews are 100% true. I honestly think this is THE BEST chicken fried steak I’ve had! (born and raised in TX) Though I don’t eat CFS often, I always pick google spots with loads of reviews that “claim” the best and then let me down. If you like homestyle chicken fried steak, THIS IS YOUR SPOT!! I completely forgot to take a photo, and by the time I remembered, I was ashamed to share my demolished plate.
Now, about the catfish.
Holy smokes! This place also has THE BEST fried catfish! I live in Texas. I’ve had looooads of catfish. It’s one of my mom’s favorite foods. It’s crazy! The breading is insanely light and super duper crispy! And the cucumber salad is a bit sweet with a vinegar tang. (And I freakin’ love that flavor combo.)
Somehow Jimmy’s Round-Up has the best chicken fried steak AND the best catfish! ♀️ Look. You can’t go wrong with either one. I promise.
And to top it all off, our server was really great. Not only that, Jimmy goes around chatting kindly with his guests. He’s so nice! For realz!
But honestly, I’m not writing this because he was super personable. I’m writing this review because if you are looking for a real life #1 spot for chicken fried steak OR #1 spot for fried catfish, you neeeed to give this place a try.
My husband wanted to add that his chicken fried chicken was amazing, one of the best he’s ever had. He finished off our super soft yeast rolls. AND he’s not usually a fan of fried catfish, but he said next time we’re in town, that’s what he’s ordering!

Went on Friday night for all you can eat catfish. First timers, we were not disappointed. Catfish was thin with a great seasoning. Sweet tea was perfect! Can’t wait to come back for breakfast. Good job Jimmy!!!!

Can’t say enough good things about this place. First time customers. The service was amazing, food was great. We ordered chicken fried steak and a meat omelette with home fries. While we were waiting for our food Jimmy came over and gave us some sample fried fish and cucumbers. My husband said it’s the best fish he’s ever had! We ended up ordering a fish plate to go for my Mom. We will definitely be back! ❤️ Ohhh and the rolls were delicious!
