We sat at the bar. It was our first time there and we told the waitress and then the owner who was sitting there eating a prime rib special welcomed us. Jimmy! He is such a kind guy and told us a little bit about the backstory of how he purchased the restaurant from his father. Told us about all of the cool decorations in there, how he used fencing to put up for wood on the walls which looks really cool. He is semi-retired and he is able to because of his fabulous staff! It was so much fun talking to him.
The food was absolutely fabulous! We just came in for a drink but decided to try something from the menu. I ordered ahi tuna off the appetizer menu and my husband ordered chili cheese fries. Both which were yummy.
The bartender was attentive and made sure we were comfortable. I highly recommend coming here people!! It’s always busy so I’m really glad we were able to squeeze in in the afternoon.
The first visit gave a very good first impression. We were excited to try the perch and blue gill which we saw on the menu and it was done so well. Lightly dusted, without heavy seasoning. The skewered mushrooms were deliciously buttery and not over-cooked. I absolutely died when I tried the cinnamon dip for the sweet potato fries. All the appetizers were delicious as well.
The 2nd time we went I brought my 85 yr old mother-in-law. The food was just as good. And the service, even better. If that’s at all possible. Our waitress was extremely polite and patient with her as she refuses to lose her independence. But is slow to get her words out right sometimes. But the staff were absolute gems.
We went back again the other day, and after debating between the ribs or smothered chicken, I went with the chicken. I was so happy I did. Even without the delicious mushrooms, onions, cheese and sauce on it, the chicken itself was juicy, not dry or over-cooked. And all the flavors together were absolutely mouth watering.
Jimmy’s has definitely become our favorite spot so far, and can see why it has remained popular for over 50 yrs.
The menu was extensive and the food we ordered was really tasty. It was out quicker than we expected for how busy they were.
My cup of water was empty after about 30 minutes and never got a refill
