Solid tostadas with large portion size. Tasty but not necessarily high quality ingredients. A scoop of guac on top would have made it a 5.

If you live in Lansing, you need to visit Jimmy’s. Even though it’s close to campus and apartments, it’s not a college crowd. Irish/English pub atmosphere with youthful but well-trained and experienced staff. Friendly regulars can be found at the bar with plenty of fun conversation but plenty of seating in other areas away from the bar. Food is always great, especially at happy hour with attractive pricing. I’ve been there more than a dozen times and Jimmy always makes an appearance making sure the customers are happy.

I’ve been ordering takeout from Jimmy’s since well before COVID and they have never once made even a tiny mistake, even when making changes or alteration to the stock menu options. Plus they are always super friendly and great me kind and happy. That says to me the company culture is good and the owners are at least trying to keep good employees, which is super rare anymore. Hope they keep up the good service and food!

Man I’ve gotta tell you, I’ve been miffed about this place ever since they opened. It was the very first place in our area to be completely non-smoking, and as a former smoker that sucked. Makes complete sense to me now, especially since every place has been non-smoking for, what, more than a decade? Two? Anyway, that’s why I have only been to Jimmy’s maybe twice before. Dumb reason, I know.
So today my wife and I met another couple there for lunch, and we had a reasonably good time. We arrived at 1:00, and I was surprised to see only one other party in the place. The way it’s set up in there, when it’s empty it looks REALLY empty.
There are several large TVs near the ceiling all around the main room, yet the one that shows the current beer selections was too far away to be readable. Turns out they had a respectable selection of IPAs for a place not known for their craft beer variety – All Day, 2 hearted, and Brewdog double hazy Jane. On a given day I might order any of those three.
They’ve got a pretty standard menu for a sports bar. Their own pizza dough, burgers, salads, a few sandwich/wrap things. And, interestingly, several pasta dishes. Including their own lasagna. Today I had fish & chips – four good-sized pieces of fish fried well in an airy, crispy tempura with some totally regular fries. I even ate a little of their house cole slaw, and that’s not usually my sort of thing.
My wife’s salad had nice, crispy, green lettuce, red tomatoes, a good amount of chopped hard-boiled egg, and pieces of chicken fried in a too-sweet coating.
Our server was smiley, nice, and attentive. The total cost for two meals and a beer was reasonable.
Not sure my grudge has really lifted. But if you think about it, you prolly don’t have a grudge, so you’ll like the place even more than I did today.

OMG! They might be a little pricey, my daughter and I had an appetizer, 1 meal a piece and 1 drink each and somehow spent just over $50. But let me tell you, it was worth it. It is so hard to find a place that makes a good fish and chips basket. I know, it’s not like it’s steak or Iobster, but I have to give them a shout out here. The fish is not overly battered but evenly coated, and it is perfectly crispy. My daughter ordered the BLT and was happy. It wasn’t soggy and bacon was cooked perfectly, according to her.

This is consistently a friendly place for a great meal and to watch the game. Maddy B was super attentive and nice. The Italian Grinder was delicious.

The establishment had lots of good parking around it and was a welcoming area inside. We sat in the bar area and had acess to a wide variety of TV channels. I ordered a double fudge martini and it was delicious. Would be even better if served with a spoon to get all of the delicious chocolate out of the glass!! We had Cajun Chicken. It was a pasta dish with penna pasta and served with garlic bread. The dish had lots of delicious sauce over it. The meal also included a side salad. We chose the Cesar salad. My husband and I shared the meal and still took some home with us. Our server was also very friendly and was great with the couple of extra requests we had. I look forward to a return outting at this place.
Our table was close to the door and we did not wonder through the establishment at all.

Food mediocre, service bad. Ordered a reuben that came barely warm. After initial drinks and food came, server disappeared for half hour. Couldn’t get a drink.
