Quirky, no-frills dining room serving American breakfast & lunch inside a Victorian structure.

I really don’t get the appeal. It’s like going to someone’s house and sitting at a super small table and getting cheap food that tastes pretty basic. I guess if you’re looking for a homey vibe and are a regular, maybe?? But no reservations, cash only, no menus (just up on the whiteboard, hard to read), and so crowded that it’s difficult to move around…not for me. I will say, however, the service is fantastic. The staff is wonderful. It’s so small, in an old row home, and there’s only a few folks working and they do a great job. But, the atmosphere and food is not something I would go back for…especially with so many amazing options close.

The food was okay, the omelette was priced well and tasted good. However, the home fries were just a *small* potato cut into slices and fried, which was very unexpected. And I mean there may have been like 8 slices of these fries for $4. The water had dust in it and when we requested a new water the waiter just brought the jug again to refill the cups, but there was nothing to refill.
Usually I would take pictures of the food but there was nothing worth it to take.

CASH ONLY! This is a no frills breakfast place, simple menu with breakfast basics. $10 to $20 a person.
Jimmy T’s is on the SE corner of 5th and East Capitol Street a quiet part of Capitol Hill. Only Street parking is available. Was greeted by the server when I came in and he helped me immediately, very friendly.
Food arrived in under 10 minutes, hot and looked good, tasted good too. I had a half waffle, bacon, one egg also ordered home fries with an ice tea to drink. $15 total
If in the area stop by for a bite. They close at 3pm.

What a little hidden gem! Cute spot that’s cash only. I love all the random decor. They have a solid menu, no frills, exactly how I like it. The staff are all very friendly and the chef even made sure we were happy with our breakfast. I had the French toast, sausage, and egg combo. It was exactly what I needed and hit the spot.

I went with my husband and we absolutely loved this place! It has a special vibe, you can tell it’s run by the owners with care and heart. Classic American breakfasts at super affordable prices.
The drip coffee was delicious and, incredibly, not burnt (a rare find!).
We’d go back without hesitation.
It’s the kind of place where, as a guest, you shouldn’t come to demand just relax, surrender to the experience, and enjoy.

No-frills, cash-only spot with true dive-bar energy…but breakfast diner style. The service was amazing and the food hit exactly the way home-cooked meals are supposed to. Simple menu, nothing fancy, just done really well. Come here for great food, genuinely kind service, and a down-to-earth atmosphere that feels comfortable and familiar. If you’re expecting polished or trendy, this isn’t it…and that’s exactly why it’s so good.

I’m conflicted writing this review. On the one hand, our server might be the kindest man in this city. A real human being. On the other hand, it took us a full hour to get a basic omelette, waffle, and one single sausage. A full hour. The food was ok, I just assumed that the cash-only and mostly breakfast menu would lend itself to a speedier dining experience. That said the atmosphere was fun.

Such a sweet place in the heart of Capitol Hills! Right on the corner, provides a quiet view of the neighborhood. Service was quick, and food was delicious! About a 30 min commute away from the White House, but well worth leaving the bustle for a great breakfast!
