We stopped here for lunch on New Year’s Day while traveling in the area. I was looking for a place to eat and they looked like they had a pretty good menu. They also were doing a brunch menu.

We were seated immediately and greeted by our server who gave us an introduction to the specials and specialties and he gave us menus. Our table was upstairs and theirs was a circular staircase to get up there.

We ordered the fried green tomatoes to start. They came out pretty quickly. They were good. The came with a scoop of pimento cheese. I don’t usually eat cheese by the spoonful but I did here. It was good.

Our meals came out shortly after we were finished with the fried green tomatoes. We had a Caesar salad with chicken and a brisket biscuit sandwich with pimento cheese grits. Both meals were good. My pic of the salad isn’t the best – I remembered to take it about half way through. I tried all of the sauces on the table. The mustard sauce was my favorite. I almost drizzled it in my salad.

Our server was friendly and attentive. He was very hospitable – he even held the door for us as we left.

The atmosphere was casual and laidback. There was music decor and blues music playing in the background. I enjoyed that.

Prices were good. We parked in a parking lot next to the building but a lot of the spots were 10 minute parking. I think I saw a sign for a garage nearby but not totally sure.

We had a good time.

Jimmy Madison’s is easily one of the coolest restaurants I’ve seen. The aesthetic and the building itself are incredible—the ambiance is “off the roof” and it perfectly captures the spirit of downtown Harrisonburg. Even with the place being packed, our waitress was right on the money. She was helpful and got us everything we needed ASAP.
The only letdown was the food temperature; our platter was barely warm. The meatloaf was a bit dry and could definitely use more sauce, and the brisket was a little tough rather than tender. It might be “good enough” for the average person, but for the price and the vibe, I was hoping for a bit more. That said, I love the restaurant and can’t wait to come back to give it another shot!

We stopped in and had lunch before attending a JMU basketball game. This is a nice place. The staff was friendly. Our waiter was on top of everything. He kept our drinks topped off, checked to make sure everything came out correctly and to our liking. The food was very good. I had the smoked meatloaf with Mac and cheese, and Jimmy sprouts (brussel sprouts). The meatloaf had a good taste and wasn’t dried out. The brussel sprouts were top notch. My daughter had the wafflewich which she liked. My wife chose the turkey sandwich. She enjoyed that as well. No complaints from this family. The food did take a while to come out, but it was worth it. We will definitely go back. Oh yea, get the Jimmy sprouts!

We will definitely be back. This was our first time. The food was great and we didn’t wait long for it to be served. The brisket and wings were the best we’ve had.

Stopped back in town due to weather. Wasn’t a lot open on Sunday. Popped in. Cute place. Service was great but food/drink sadly was lacking. Got the meatloaf plate. Not a lot of flavor and super thin. Almost looked like a Salisbury steak tv dinner item. Mac n cheese was nice and creamy. Broccoli salad was good. Hush puppies tasted like they were from a bag. Old fashion, although was good….it was served in small rocks glass. Place is decent. May be better things on the menu worth a try.

We got into town on the later side and were looking for dinner. So glad this place was open! We sat on the rooftop deck and the bartender (says Arwen on the receipt) waited on us. She was awesome making sure we didn’t wait on anything or need anything. The manager was super accommodating as well with requests. Overall we would definitely come back if we were in the area again!

One of the best meals we’ve had while we were on vacation in massanutten. The place is tucked in the middle of downtown Harrisonburg, looks very cool inside. Everyone was satisfied with their meal. We tried the fried green tomatoes and wings for a starter, they were amazing. Then we had the BBQ combo, a burger and a salad with salmon, everything was delicious, the BBQ meats were cooked and smoked to perfection, the sides were equally as tasty as the main dishes. Highly recommend the Jimmy sprouts, brisket and wings, so so good!!
