Stopped in for lunch on our way off the Keys (Saturday afternoon, early October). The place was pretty empty, but seemed appropriate for this time of year. A rain shower had just moved through but the wait staff quickly dried off a table and chairs for us on the large deck so we could enjoy one more meal on the water. I had an oyster appetizer, which was good, but we all agreed the rest of our food was just average. No real complaints but nothing blew us away. The tuna nachos were good, but mostly chips. The back deck was nice but walking around the inside, things felt a little out-dated. Maybe just the lack of a crowd, even around the bar with college football on, killed the vibe. The waiter was great though, local kid who hustled and had great personality. The place is big, so if you’re traveling with a large group this is probably a safe spot to get a table.

Had lunch yesterday afternoon at the Big Chill. The service by Katie was amazing, she was very attentive to our needs as well as friendly and shared her experience in Key Largo. It’s rare you meet someone who is truly from Key Largo and grew up on the island. Her passion for her home and love for serving others was truly inspiring. Lunch was great and very filling but the atmosphere and the vibe were truly amazing. We started with the trio, which was chips, salsa, guacamole and cheese. I could have ended there it was so good. I had the French dip wrap and it was perfect. My wife had the Pulled Pork Sandwich, and she said it was perfect. We were already full but the vibe was so great we decided to have Key Lime pie, and it was delicious too. We have been to the keys many times and this out our first time at the Big Chill, we will be back on every trip down from now on. Thank you Katie for a great experience. Almost forgot 2 Bananas Daiquiri’s were on point and hit the spot.

We’ve been here twice not. Food is really good. I got the filet mignon and it was so tender. The smoked wahoo fish dip was delish! Key lime colada was yum! Great place for watching sunset. Service was quick. Wish I could remember our waiter cause he was so friendly and helpful.

We had a great experience at Jimmy Johnson’s Big Chill here in Key Largo! The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a day by the water. Our waiter, Desmond, was fantastic, friendly, attentive and very prompt with everything we needed.
My wife enjoyed a Mango Mojito and I had the Islamorada Ale….both were excellent. For food, we had the calamari, lobster bisque fries and a blackened mahi salad…everything was fresh and perfectly prepared.
The food, drinks, and waterfront views made for a great place for lunch. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

Carlos was an amazing waiter at Big Chill! He gave excellent recommendations — the Golden Margarita with a Patron floater was perfect, the Fisherman’s Pie was full of flavor, and the Garlic Parmesan medium wings were cooked just right. The food and service were both on point. Thank you, Carlos, for making my solo and first experience so enjoyable!

HIGHLY ANNOYED that we made RESERVATIONS and then were told by the desk check in to “go sit anywhere” and someone will come and take your order”. Once we seated ourselves, we waited, in darkness, until a waiter showed up, left us menus, we COULD NOT READ(dark) and EVENTUALLY,gave us a lamp from a nearby table! Afterwards, things got better, until CIGAR SMOKING people sat next to us ALL NIGHT! Really?

Jimmy Johnson’s Big Chill in Islamorada absolutely lived up to the hype — the vibe alone makes this place worth visiting. We went around 6 PM and grabbed self-seating right on the pier, which turned out to be perfect because we had an incredible sunset view for our family of eight. It honestly felt like a classic Florida Keys experience.
The food was excellent — everything came out quickly, hot, and fresh. The fish tasted very fresh, and we especially loved the garlic parmesan wings and the Italian Fisherman’s pizza. Definitely 5/5 on food quality.
The atmosphere was the true highlight. Between the waterfront setting, relaxed pier seating, and a DJ playing fun remixes of popular songs, the energy was upbeat and enjoyable without being overwhelming.
Service was the only slight downside. Our server wasn’t particularly warm or friendly, but she was clearly very busy and still checked on us multiple times and made sure we had everything we needed.
Overall, this is a fantastic spot for great food, amazing views, and a fun Keys atmosphere. We’d absolutely come back.

Our bartender and server Brett was a really cool Dude. He made us feel very welcome and was so nice that we went back and saw them a second time. He was spot on with his recommendation. Please remember all of these restaurants Add a tip included into the actual bills.

So, this is a bit hidden away in the back of what appears to be a hotel, but once you find it, it’s a cool place. Food is pretty decent. Has a great view. As we sat there, watching fish swim around, sll of a sudden a manatee cow and calf just happened to wander by and say hello, which was pretty incredible, though I’m not sure that’s the norm. Also saw a bunch of Cassiopeia jellyfish, which, while not as rare, were also cool.
