Let’s face it – You don’t need to be a chef to work at Jimmy John’s, you just need to make a sandwich – Its not that hard and requires little to know skill.
So I don’t understand why it is so hard to get it right at the Jimmy John’s in East Haven.
My sandwich has oxidized cold cuts (dull, gray, dried) – Typically takes 3 to 5 days to discolor when properly stored. So they are either serving old dated meat or they are not storing it properly, either way, its not good.
Tomatoes and cucumbers are soft, glossy, almost slimy. Again, if properly stored 2, maybe 3 days before they look like this.
Someone needs to call the state health department on this location. These people have no clue what they are doing.
When we complained we were told that the franchise owner would contact us, but its been 2 1/2 weeks and have not hear anything.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

I was so excited to get a JJ subs, but this place is pathetic. I’ve been to the Orange and now the East Haven locations and as much as I really wanna like their sandwiches I just can’t. The cost is crazy for what you get. It’s literally a couple slices of lowest grade meat on a bread stick to make it look like a full sandwich. I got the Cuban Sandwich which was 2 slices of ham. 2 strips of bacon, a slice of cheese, a pickle slice and about 1/2 gallon of yellow mustard. Thank god for the mustard cause it was the only thing with flavor. The bread stick isn’t bad it’s just not what should be used for the base of a $20 sandwich. I just don’t know how they have survived this long.

I don’t really understand why this place has bad reviews. I love Jimmy Johns. I go to the one in Orange all the time for lunch. I live in East Haven and saw the new location opened so I got dinner there tonight. I got the Cuban. It was delicious. I saw another review that said it had no flavor. I don’t understand that. I get it toasted and its amazing. Their bread is so good. A lot better than any other sub shop.

This place is not good at all. Small amounts of meats on tiny French bread at high prices. The quality of the meats is very low and extremely tasteless. The upside is they give you very little amount of meats on the sandwich to make up for the poor quality. The bread is ok but it’s a narrow French bread so makes 2 slices of meat look like a lot. I got a roast beef with a slice of cheddar, and a ton of horseradish sauce, upside the sauce is the only flavor on the sandwich. There are to many good choices for a grinder stay away from here.

IF YOU ARE HUNGRY, DON’T GO HERE
This was by far the worst sub I ever had. It was their #5. I was the only one in the place when I ordered so no reason to rush and make a sloppy sub. The price was over $9. Unbelievable. No pride in the workers. Pathetic

I was so excited to finally have a jimmy Johns I’ve been to this location twice and just can’t see how anyone could give this sub shop high marks. The meat quality is very low very poor quality, on the upside you get very very little meat. The bread is very narrow slightly larger diameter than a thumb. I paid $20 for less than $3 of meat, cheese, and bread. The meat and cheese are such low quality they have such little taste. I read reviews giving this place high marks but they seem to be from the same person multiple times. All similar names and dated the same. I’m guessing an employee wrote. I was hoping so much for a great sandwich but if you’ve ever been to a real deli and gotten a sub you know the bread should be big enough to accommodate at least 3/4 pounds to a pound of meat and cheese. The vegetables should be fresh flavorful. Jimmy John’s has none of that. The roast beef, the turkey, and the ham all taste the same, the cheeses are very generic with no flavor or distinction between them.

So excited there is another Jimmy John’s in Connecticut!! The Favorite sandwiches have double meat and are perfect for my husband. I like a lower meat to bread ratio so the Original sandwiches are perfect for me. Fast service and high quality ingredients. Can’t wait to come back!!
