I go to Hulas under the bridge in Port Orange fairly often, but this was my first stop in NSB. Sat at the outside bar. Bartender was friendly and attentive. Food was pretty standard for Hulas. I usually get the chip of trio of dips and a taco. Today was more about the chips ad beer. I’ll be back.

Was looking forward to having dinner at Jimmy Hula’s. It was very busy (evening at the Car Show). Was in line about 20-mins to place our order (only 1 person taking orders). Asked before placing an order if you can get drinks (alcohol) there too or do I have to stay in line for the bar? Was told no problem you can order here. My husband went in search for a table. All empty tables needed cleaned. I finally placed our order, paid then she started to walk away and I asked about the drinks? She stated it would be faster if I went to the bar!, BUT it would be delivered to the table if I wanted to wait. Prior to ordering she DID NOT state that. Gave our number to my husband (who was still waiting for the table to be cleaned) and then got in line for my PAID drinks at the bar. Finally got the drinks, went back to the table (still not cleaned). Finally about 20 mins after placing our order a girl started to clean the table (a couple of items at a time). She made about 8-10 trips and never came back to wipe the table off. Finally after 30 mins our 1 item came to the table (no utensils) asked the server what about the other part of our order, stated it was coming and she would bring us our utensils. Another 5-10 minutes past, no utensils or nachos. Finally the nachos came, server stated “oh I’ll get you some utensils”. Several minutes later she brought them. The nachos I would have to say were the worst nachos I have ever had. I have been to this location every time I’m in town and this was the worse experience I have ever experienced. So sad.

Love this place but if you have nightshade/pepper allergy it’s not worth the risk.

I always got voodoo tacos without the sauce which is sweet and most importantly? Pretty spice free!!! My fiance is a hot sauce, spice junky, so it was so nice finding a place we BOTH loved! Their fish has always been the perfect crunch, the sweet pico like heaven, consistently good food that just hits the spot.

However today I got tacos that started burning my mouth, then I start having a harder time breathing, my fiance took a bite and he immediately went into panic mode because it was even hot to him, which is rare to find spices to make him flinch. So there I am crying from taking a huge bite of food I trusted, tongue swollen, and I’m devastated because we come here all the time. Once it settled enough to call I rang them up to let them know because god forbid this happens to someone else too. They apologized, said they’d tell the kitchen, that’s it. No offer to replace it, refund, credit for next order nothing. Just an oops level sorry.

Been over an hour and my tongues still tingling and I still can’t taste anything. I loved Hula’s but after this scare I don’t think I could ever trust them again.

Atmosphere were wonderful! The food is much better and they seem a bit more organized at the Port Orange location. The zucchini fries were soooo fried, we couldn’t hardly find the zucchini. So disappointed! The menu is different than the Port Orange location. They don’t have the same tacos I would usually get. I was with a couple of other people so we had 3 orders total. The time between the 1st order being delivered and the 3rd order being delivered was enough time for the 1st person to eat their entire meal/bowl. We all ordered one right after the other, so I am not sure what happened to the timing of things.

Man, what happened to this place? We are in town for a few weeks and tried twice to get food. Neither time was successful. The first time we got the wrong order and it took them over an hour and a half to do it. We spoke to the manager about a refund but we never got it.
I went back about a week later for lunch and waited in line for 15 minutes and watched the girl at the counter take a total of 1 order. She then told everyone else in line that it would be at least a half hour to get food. The restaurant was about 20% full on taco Tuesday I’m struggling to see how they are this bad at tacos. The recent reviews appear to agree with me. This place is overpriced and inconsistent. You can’t be both and make it.

Thursday 4:00pm-5:00pm. Very confusing. Am I being served or do I walk up to the bar for my beer? I’ve already paid for it inside was given a number and 2 receipts. Prompted by machine to tip staff prior to even getting food or my beer. I sat for 14 minutes thinking my beer was going to be served to me and it wasn’t. Only after asking about it was it delivered. It did come to me super cold so it wasn’t dying at the bar waiting. I got my Tacos which were good. I had to go back into the back dining room to get condiments I was wanting to add to my meal. The young ladies were very nice but the whole “service” aspect is totally missing. After finishing my meal I did tip staff in cash but unfortunately since I had a nice table in the shade and it was sunny some new diners sat at my table and it wasn’t even wiped or disinfected yet. There was also some droppings from my Tacos still on the table. I tried to clean up as well as their napkins would allow. I’ve been here before and always had a great time maybe it was just an off day. I hope so. Give servers stations in the dining room and let them work for the tips instead of guests feeling lost and walking around looking for their meals and drinks.

I really enjoyed my taco, it was delicious. However, I waited 40 minutes for one small taco. The service was extremely slow and it was just a little disappointing. The taco was good, but it wasn’t 40 minutes wait good.

Food took forever, half of our order took so long we ended up just cancelling and asking for a refund. We also found a screw in our food. They did refund our entire meal for that which is nice, but yikes. Terrible service, terrible food, and then the screw…. No one from our party of 15 will be returning.

Was hungry while waiting in line to order. Even hungrier 40 minutes later after the last toss back of my one lonely beer that had minimally kept me sustained. Looked around, lunch crowd had pretty much dissipated on a lovely, breezy Saturday afternoon. The first Saturday of the month in New Smyrna Beach is popping busy with artist vendors and sales at the boutiques on Canal Street. Music everywhere is one good vibe with Stick Figure playing in the background. You’d be challenged to not enjoy your time. Unless. Unless you’re still hungry and food is MIA with no ETA. As I was gathering my shopping bags (beer is empty) to move on with my day and find food elsewhere, a female is literally jogging up to me waving receipts and apologizing before she reaches me. New staff, mix up in the kitchen, she’s the new Manager, she comped my burger AND beer, apologized profusely yet sweetly and I’m thinking I wouldn’t want her job! So gotta give kudos to Robin for not losing a customer today. I had left a tip before service was delivered so yeah, I was def going to leave a review. I ordered another beer while waiting (still) for my burger that arrived in 5 minutes after she chatted with me. Hey, transition is never easy. Food service isn’t the most rewarding job but the tips add up at the end of the day and ppl gotta start somewhere in the work pyramid. I did 50 years ago at a Fosters Freeze in California LOL! Bring a smile to work, kids. It’s infectious

Loved our Jimichurri bowl with shrimp, and the Surfin California burrito! Great flavors and very fresh tasting. Had a mixed drink that hit the spot, too! Service was super helpful and friendly. Def going to eat here again!
