I spent the night in town here on my way to Florida and decided to grab a bite to eat. I was looking for a BBQ place and I found Jim N Nick’s BBQ. It was about 8:30 when I went in and sat down to order. I am a big fan of good BBQ and I know the best places will run out of a few things by the end of the night. They had sold out on pulled pork and chicken but I saw something on the menu that I wanted to try anyway. It was BBQ smoked turkey breast! I has some at a different place up north a couple years ago that a BBQ Pitmaster from Missouri made for Thansgiving. It was so good. I have to say that this Turkey was just as incredible. It was tender and juicy and had a great flavor! You need to try it. The baked beans and corn on the cob were also fantastic. Very flavorful. The whole meal started out with these little hot and fresh muffins they brought out. Yum! My waitress was awesome. She was nice, she was attentive, and took great care of me. One of the best waitresses I have had in a long time. The hostess was very friendly too. I definitely recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner. They have dine in, order pickup, and a drive thru. There is a bar inside too. Its a pretty place.

I usually order at the Conyers location, but I was closer to the McDononugh location so I ordered the classic ribs with baked beans and collard greens from Jim ’N Nick’s yesterday! UNFORTUNATELY, the experience was awful and a total waste of money!!!
Starting with the ribs: they were dry, tough, and laced with excessive fat. The flavor was extremely unpleasant and honestly disgusting. After a few bites, they made me sick to my stomach, and I ended up throwing them straight in the trash.
The collard greens were just as disappointing. They were overwhelmed with stems instead of actual greens, completely lacking balance. On top of that, they had no real seasoning or flavor whatsoever, making them inedible.
This meal was a huge letdown, especially given the expectations for a barbecue restaurant with plenty of GOOD GOOGLE REVIEWS FOR MCDONOUGH LOCATION! I won’t be ordering this again and I do NOT RECOMMEND MCDONOUGH, GA location!

For the past few years I always ordered a gallon of the collard greens and a gallon of the Mac and cheese because on one occasion years back I had only ordered a half gallon of both and it wasn’t enough for my family so I decided to always get a gallon of both. As far as I can remember the gallon portion came in the large pans. I never seen any differences in the pans year after year. A Half of gallon is the small pan. A gallon is the large pan.

So I ordered a gallon of both for my family this thanksgiving. I Pre ordered 3-4 days before so I wouldn’t have a problem with their heavy Thanksgivings orders. I get my order. They give me a small pan of collards for $50 and a large pan of Mac and cheese for $50 so I asked the manager if they left a pan of the collards out. This is not the same amount of collards that I’m used to getting for the gallon size. He said to me that they measure the collards now with a quart cup. You get 4 quarts in the pan. Ok then if that was true why did they put it in a large pan for all those years? And if that was true why are you still selling a gallon of Mac and Cheese still in the large pan for $50? So why did you guys decide to just put the collards in a small pan?
They put both a Half gallon or A whole gallon into a small pan. How would your customers know if they have the right amount? Should we watch you guys pour 2 quarts or 4 quarts? I ended up buying another small pan. Spending over $100 for a true gallon of collard greens. The same amount that I was getting every year.

Jim and Nicks McDonough Ga. Cater’s a Gallon of Collard Greens in small pan for $50

Manager is Only Measuring the collards with a quart cup.
How are you guys measuring a gallon of Mac and Cheese?

So why are they putting the Collards in a small pan it doesn’t matter if you order a half gallon or a full gallon?

See the picture below!!!
I ordered the large pan – 1 Gallon $50 which should serve 20-24 people.

They gave me the small pan- half a gallon $28 which should serve only 10-12

They gave me the $28 pan for the $50 pan. How can you tell the difference between the two when they are in the same pan? How could I compare? Only from what I’ve been getting before.

Don’t take my word. Check for yourself.

This was the first time visiting this establishment. Husband had pulled pork plate and I had the quarter chicken (thigh and leg portion). The smoked flavor was very good on the chicken and pork. Tried the Morgan Co. White sauce to go with the chicken (first time sampling tho style of sauce) and it paired well.
Would definitely recommend anyone to try them out. Nice portions for the price.

If you’re heading to the Jim ‘N Nick’s in McDonough, do yourself a favor: bypass the “low and slow” BBQ for just a second and head straight for Tony at the bar.

I’m convinced Tony is less of a bartender and more of a drink-whisperer. I’ve had “service” before, but Tony operates with the precision of a surgeon and the speed of a guy who knows exactly how much I need a drink after a long day. He was always spot on—my glass was never empty long enough for me to contemplate my life choices, which is exactly how I like it.

The Winning Strategy:
Order the Brisket: It’s tender enough to make a grown man weep.

Order a Drink from Tony: It’ll be balanced, cold, and crafted with the kind of care usually reserved for Faberge eggs.

Tony has that rare talent of being everywhere at once without breaking a sweat. If they ever decide to automate bartending with robots, they’re going to have a hard time programming “The Tony Factor.”

Bottom line: Go for the BBQ, stay for the man behind the bar. If Tony’s working, you’re in the best hands in McDonough.

We recently purchased a smoked turkey for Thanksgiving and it was amazing! This will be our new tradition. I was also extremely impressed with the professionalism and attitudes of the employees the night before Thanksgiving. They had a lot of order to fill and were very organized and so nice and patient with each customer. Strength is revealed under pressure and I can say this staff displayed strength! It’s always been a pleasant dine in experience as well. Thanks Jim and Nicks for standing out and for the great food that is consistently good!

This location is the best!! When I say delicious I mean it! Everything is always good! I have never had something not taste good. The brisket, chicken and pork are my favs! I order here when I need my collard greens fix. Biscuits are addicting! Even if I had an issue they were quick to correct it and make sure I was satisfied with the resolution. I went out of town to another state that’s supposedly famous for BBQ. I went to the restaurant everyone raved about…. Mannn it was disappointing and all I could think was Jim n Nicks is so much better!!!

Came in 2/14/2025 for Valentine’s Day. We got the Cowboy nachos to share, wife had the pulled pork and I had the brisket salad. The brisket was amazing. The nachos were layered with cheese. And the salad had smoked veggies along with the brisket. I might add they have a house bbq sauce that is amazing. The biscuits they start you with are out of this world good. Similar to a corn bread stuffed with cheese. The pulled pork was very flavorful and moist. The Mac and cheese alone is worth coming in for. We will definitely be back.

By the way if you come for a holiday they are very busy. That means they may run out of certain menu items. Didn’t make a difference to us but they were out of chicken and ribs when we came in

This place sucks! Sat for 30 minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence after being seated. Waiter got the drink order wrong and we only ordered 3 drinks!! We walked out! Will not be back ever. By the by, the restaurant was pretty much empty…
