I stopped by Jian Korean Cuisine in the H-Mart food court in Upper Darby and really enjoyed it. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were very generous, and the workers were friendly and welcoming. On weekends it can be a little harder to find parking, but it’s worth it. The food definitely makes up for it. I’d highly recommend giving this spot a try!

I liked their Seolleongtang (ox bone soup) and stone pot bimbimbop! Their banchan (side dish) was fresh and yummy. I liked how their seafood pancake was very fluffy and not too oily. But if you’re more into crunchy ones you might not like it!

Great traditional Korean food. Walk theough the entrance to H-Mart and head up the escaltors and theres a food court to the left. Fast and great quality and fresh. My go to lunch spot and whenever I’m craving some Korean food. The picture is of the spicy pork bulgogi. Kimchi Fried rice is also a great choice for those who want to pick something familiar.

I’m here eating number 18 “Dolsot BiBimBab” which in the poster on the wall says “Stone pot rice topped w/ assorted vegetables,
ground beef & egg”. However I don’t see any ground beef in the bowl – when asked the boss kept saying just a little bit of beef. Don’t order anything from this restaurant.

Best value lunch. Been coming back for #30 Squid Pork Bulgogi on a sizzling platter for like forever. This is the place I’ll miss after moving to Germany. Wish Jian旨安 has an outlet in Düsseldorf, lol.

I ordered the soondae guk, a traditional Korean blood sausage soup usually served hot in stoneware with sliced soondae, veggies, and a rich broth.

The best thing here is the price — it’s cheap, which is rare for Korean food. The food came out fairly quickly, but since it was served in stoneware, I expected it to be piping hot — instead, it was just lukewarm. Even worse, the broth was incredibly bland, lacking the depth and seasoning you’d normally expect from this dish. The portion of soondae itself was also disappointing — maybe 6 inches max, cut up, which felt stingy for a dish centered around it.

The banchan (side dishes) included store-bought kimchi and sweet soy peanuts — nothing special, but not bad either. Overall, it’s one of those “you get what you pay for” experiences.

The cafeteria-style seating area was a bit dirty, but that’s likely not their responsibility. Still, it impacts the overall vibe. Also, no napkins or hand sanitizer available — both are kept behind the counter, which makes the place feel a bit unwelcoming and overly cautious.

After eating, you’re expected to place your tray on a rolling cart, which is fair, but reinforces that this is more fast-food than full-service.

Overall: A cheap meal that arrives fast, but the soup was bland, the portions were small, and the dining setup could be friendlier.

Our favorite place to eat at HMart. Each meal comes with sides (a root vegetable and/or some flavored Peanuts), miso soup, Kimchi, etc. Everything is delicious. Our favorites include #18 Dolsot Bibim Bab, #42 Duck Mandu Kuk, #23 Bulgogi Dolsot.

I keep coming back to this spot for Korean food because it’s always good and never a hassle. There’s usually a line but it moves fast and I’ve never waited more than 25 minutes even when it’s busy. The menu is huge and the food is great for the price. My favorite is the spicy pork with tofu and kimchi because it’s full of flavor and always hits the spot. I also love the free peanuts marinated in soy sauce since they’re a nice little bonus. If you want tasty, affordable Korean food with quick service, this place is a no-brainer.
