I really wanted to like this place. I was excited to find it and find that they had a lunch buffet. Unfortunately, the lunch buffet was a complete disappointment. We were there right when the restaurant opened for the day. None of the food that should be hot temperature was hot. Instead, everything was lukewarm. I personally had a concern for food safety.

The Dahl soup was like colored water with no body or lentils at all. There were beef meatballs, in the Indian sauce. I swear the meatballs tasted identical to Costco beef meatballs. I like Costco meatballs. I just don’t think they should be found in an Indian buffet. None of the food was great. The tandoori chicken was OK but the fact that it was barely warm was off putting. Service was good. But I would rather have good properly heated food with great flavor than to have good service at a buffet.

Another thing that was most annoying was it sounded like a vacuum was running much of the time, and it was so loud that we could barely carry on a conversation and it was actually hurting my ears. Keep in mind the restaurant had just opened for the day. Why did they need to do all that vacuuming at the beginning of the day?

We will not be back.

For starters I’d say originally this would be a 4 star review but took off a star due to one factor.

I’m not sure if it was the owner or not but there was a guy grabbing the plates from customers but he kept hurrying me “are you done?” ” are you done ?” It seemed like each time I was done with a plate. He was very hyper.
Initially misgendered me too until I had to correct that. But ya he tends to be very formal with ma’am and sir and that personally is a turn off for me especially in service. It doesn’t help matters even if it’s the correct pronouns say and its overly done but everything is “yes sir yes ma’am” which btw is a newer thing I’ve noticed like within last 4-5 years. I didn’t grow up with that and nobody called eachother bro either. Just these things that annoy me and when they get in the way of an otherwise decent experience, it can suck. It truly truly can.

As far as the food. My favorite was the coconut curry chicken and the regular as well. The worst was the vegetable Masala in the yellow sauce. Tasted like rubber sauce. The rices were fine. Saag was good. A lot of things were edible I just didn’t like how the manager or whoever that was was hurrying me and I had to even tell him he was too hyper with it and to slow down.

More than likely won’t be back though however. Even if I did live here full time.

My family and I love Jewel of India! First of all, it has a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, which I really appreciate in a restaurant. Second, the service is amazing! Everyone we’ve ever interacted with here is so attentive and kind. Waters always filled, checking in not too little or too much. Third, the food is really delectable. All the meat is tender; tandoori cooked just right; rice perfect. Veggie dishes are delicious, especially the saag paneer. Sauces are all wonderful; large variety of chutneys. Perfect naan. And it’s great for kids: My boys (11, 9, 7) gobbled up everything on the buffet! Finally, don’t forget to order their chai, which is not overly sweet so that the flavors really come through.

I discovered this wonderful restaurant in the early 2000s probably around 2001 and was so delighted and ecstatic to see that they had a buffet for lunch. That was a great price! Back then it was $11.95 today. It’s $15.95 which is still a great price! The duel of India has one of the best Indian food buffets I have found in the city and surrounding areas of the Denver metro area! I’ve tried restaurants in Aurora, Littleton, Denver, Lakewood, Englewood, etc. + the Jewel of India has the best selection. Everything from their mint chutney to dandoori chicken straight from the tandoori oven, their bosmati rice, but the other rice that includes saffron, green beans, carrots. And of course the desserts of the donut balls in the syrup. The yogurt, fruit and rice pudding! Definitely worth the drive and the price is wonderful. Oh and plenty of naan to soak up all the juices. I like to eat it with the Saag!!!

It was a total disappointment! I went to try it out and was so dissatisfied. I got there when the buffet opened at 11am. I was the only one there. The food on the buffet was not hot, rather slightly warm. It was obvious it had been prepared way ahead of time and just dropped in the buffet table. When I told them that the soup wasn’t hot, or any of the food, they started lifting trays and pouring water under the steam table. I had to ask them to heat both of my plates of food in the microwave. The naan bread was cold and doughy. The food tasted old and wasn’t spiced correctly, the fried food tasted like it was fried in old oil, and I had to sit with an empty water glass even though I was the only person there. I was there for 1hr and only 2 more tables came in.
The mango pudding was discussing. It tasted old just like the chicken. The rice was dry and hard, even when I scooped from the bottom. The salad was only a be bowl with lettuce, carrots, and cucumber slices. The salad was old and the cucumber slices were soggy. The sweet potatoes Marsala was terrible, unflavorful sauce and undercooked hard chunks of sweet potato.
They didn’t charge me, and good thing, because when I finished eating I started feeling sick. My stomach started hurting and I got sick.
I WILL NEVER GO BACK!

We had no idea what delicacy we were getting ourselves into. We had a table for 6 about an hour before close and it was the most heavenly experience to grace my taste buds in months.

The service made me feel like royalty. The drinks were exquisite and full. The food memorable. Definitely a great spot for a date night or to try Indian cuisine in a fine establishment. Many options in the menu.

ALWAYS check how much you are being charged on take out orders. Entered the restaurant, a server greeted me with open hands “give me money” joke. I said give me the food first. Elderly, mustache. I picked up a chicken tikka masala and cheese nan TO GO, I was charged 28.45. I also left a 2 dollar tip.. Realized on my way back home I was over charged compared to their online prices. Called the restaurant back and was told that online prices were different and they were going to give me a discount next time. Why would I go to a scamming restaurant again? Never. This explains why they only had 2 customers sitting and eating. NEVER AGAIN. Dishonest business.
